Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.) on Monday apologized for behaving aggressively during a confrontation on the street with a young man who claimed to be a student.
"I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved," he said in a statement released by his office.
A video of the incident, in which Etheridge can be seen swatting at a camera and grabbing the young man by the coat collar, appeared online Monday morning.
"Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina," Etheridge said, "I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse."

Heh, my other job is a martial arts instructor. That’s assault period. If I’d done something like that I’d be behind bars looking at assault, I doubt an apology would suffice. Don’t know hardly a thing about law and lawyers but I know an assault( weak but assault nevertheless) when I see one. Clearly, that interviewer had every right to defend himself and used amazing restraint. Heavens, someone at least charge this asswipe. Incredible double standard if he’s NOT charged.

No person has the right to demand any such information about who anyone is simply in public and asking a question.

Definitly assault and the kid never lays a hand on the Congressman save for to push away at the end.
BTW the Congressman Grabs the camera out of the kids hand too and walks off with it, but it must have been returned (or at least the SD card was) because the first part of the video is from the Camera of the kid who gets assaulted. The second part of the video is from his friend a couple of paces behind him.
The congressman first grabs the hand of the youth with his right hand
then grabs the camera out of the youth's hand with his left hand
and and continually ask's who are you.and pulls it down to his side.
then next grabs him with one hand by the back of the neck while facing him..
Then pulls him toward him and to his side where he puts his arm around him:
the youth finally pushes away from him and the congressman leaves with his camera (but he must have got it back because the first part of the video is from the camera the congressman grabs and walks away with) 
Whatever else its definitely battery and the kid never lays a hand on the congressman except to push away from him.
Etheridge would NEVER have assaulted a black student like this. I hope the young man presses charges.
