Bush daughter 'glad' Obama health care passed

One of the daughters of former President George W. Bush isn't following the Republican Party line when it comes to the issue of the health care legislation that cleared Congress last spring without any GOP support.

In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Barbara Bush said she's "glad" Democrats passed the massive spending measure and President Barack Obama signed it into law.

"Why do, basically, people with money have good health care and why do people who live on lower salaries not have good health care?" the 28-year old said.

"Health should be a right for everyone." Asked specifically what she though about the president's health care initiative, Bush replied with a smile, "That is a good question - obviously the health care reform bill was highly debated by a lot of people and I guess I'm glad the bill was passed."

i’m perfectly calm. i am of the opinion that we need to raise staunch conservatives. if we don’t do it, who will do it for us? can we leave it to chance? or expect the lib parents to raise conservative kids?

She is so generous with other people’s lives and money. Just like the Mexican coddling political elite of Texas.

Our youngsters have no idea what the NEA has done to ruin their future.

Why should I be forced to pay for your healthcare, or you for mine? Since when is that right?

Don’t throw this all on the Bushes. Remember, there is Ron Reagan and Patti Davis...

My parents are socialists and my brother and I are ultra-conservative. OTOH, nearly all of our close relatives, and their children, are democrats.

Do Ron Reagan and Patti Davis represent the Gipper? These people are all free to make up their own minds and are themselves responsible for their own opinions.

Yep I will never vote for Bush again. They are all closet liberals, Rockefeller Republicans.

“Do Ron Reagan and Patti Davis represent the Gipper?”

Reagan wasn’t perfect you know. Yes, they are some representation on him.

“My parents are socialists and my brother and I are ultra-conservative”

Same here. So? This is not an equal-ended dichotomy. The left is wrong, and we are right. You and I both saw that our parents were deluded in their politics.

But for conservative parents, it is always possible to ensure our children grow up right, because we have the right answers, the non-easy answers, the intellectual answers.

It’s much harder if the parents are away all the time, as may have been the case for Bush/Cheney/Reagan. Still, you have to find the time to bring up your kids right.

A 28 year old woman is a moron who doesn’t understand the basics of economics and property rights.

Who could believe this could happen in America? I am so glad she can vote, though!</sarcasm>

No. Reality is Reagan was followed by a competent VP, whom the Country admired in GHWB and was going against a complete fool in substance as well as style.....While in the case following GWB, he was not followed by a sitting VP (member of his Admin) but by a complete fool who most often OPPOSED GWB, in that of McCain.

Two complete seperate situations. Furthermore, Obama was a much better candidate on all levels, with even more so when taking a look at the intangibles of the 24/7 news media and money raised via the two parties on those given election years. Not too mention the GOP base was much more adult in their outlook and understanding in 1988 than they are today....

Being willing to be intellectually honest about the reality of those two elections sums things up much better than your lack of doing so, with regard to your "nutshell" overview.

The Reagan record that I listed stands and no way today would GWB have got by with doing any of those things. On the record of big issues, GWB was more conservative than Reagan on many levels. Especially in terms of the courts, Defense, taxes and soc security...
