This is pretty scary stuff. The Federal government is ready to seize control of private company networks in order to "protect" us in the event of a hacker attack.

LLS, they didn't confiscate, they just asked folks to quit transmitting, and folks by and large abided by the request. My F-I-L was a ham at the time. Of course, they drafted him and put him in the Signal Corps . . . !
The FCC at the time assured that this was carried out (no operation), too.

Oh, yeah, you'd get a friendly visit from the boys with the little portable antennas if you got on the air.
I can certainly understand that! The Germans were busy putting clandestine shortwave operators in place (although the best known one turned out to be a double agent!)

Okay, thanks. Yup. Agree that.

Is it really possible for the entire internet to be taken over by some people in one room? It’s called the WORLD WIDE WEB. That’s a lot of “tubes” for a small amount of people to plug up.

The problem is that it comes into just a few points of entry and then is distributed out from there. Those entry points are the choke holds that would be seized. So, yes.

"The problem is that it comes into just a few points of entry and then is distributed out from there. Those entry points are the choke holds that would be seized. So, yes." From what I understand, (according to David Miller, L.A.W.) one small cube is what everything on the World Wide Web filters through. True or not, I don't know. But probably so.

Bruce Schneier has a text book, Applied Cryptography. It was, and is, the best. It had code in it to show how to implement the various cryptographic algorithms. The book also came with a disk with the code on it. I actually have that book, and yes, it is very good.
