Remember the Dixie Chicks? When people stopped buying their music their 'activism' all but disappeared.
If you'll read my posts carefully, you'll understand that, while there's nothing that I can do about how someone wants to live their life, I don't have to give them my hard earned money to help support a lifestyle that I disagree with.
Why is that so hard for you to understand? You see, I try to have some convictions about my conservatism. For instance, when I find out that an actor is a huge libtard Oblowme supporter, I don't buy their movies or watch their TV shows. That pretty much gets me down to Fox News and Versus but that means that I only watch about 5 hours of TV a week which has turned out to be a good thing.
You’re not posting about spending “your own” money; you’re posting about Rush Limbaugh spending his money!!
And you’re not posting about Elton John’s activism, you’re posting about his lifestyle. My point remains—Elton John would like men whether he was rich and famous or poverty stricken and anonymous. So giving him money doesn’t support his sexual proclivities. He’s going to be gay whether he has money or not!
Neil Diamond is a quiet, non-flamboyant gay man, but by your logic you wouldn’t hire him either. So it’s about lifestyle, not “activism” no matter how you spin it.
My convictions about conservatism are this: We want limited government, limited spending and an abundance of freedom. But yet many so-called “conservatives” love to stick their noses into other peoples’ private business. That doesn’t make any sense to me.
