PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — What was Elton John doing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding?

John performed at the reception when Limbaugh married Kathryn Rogers in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday, according to the Palm Beach Post.

John has not made a statement on why he chose to perform for Limbaugh, in spite of the outcry from the gay community.

Some reports say John earned a million dollars for the gig.

No it isn’t. It is about rewarding a business based on performance. Simple capitalism. I need not agree with every (or any) choice he makes to acknowledge that he is a talented musician.

Not ridiculous at all. It certainly does enable his lifestyle. Ask the Dixie Chicks.

I don’t care for his politics nor his sexual preference, but Elton would be my choice for musical performer as well. I’ve seen him in concert 5 different times dating back to 1977.

Buying his music neither endorses or support his lifestyle choices. It’s a simple capitalist transaction. If I like his music I’ll buy it. That doesn’t mean that I approve of his lifestyle. Just like when I buy a new suit...I’m not endorsing the lifestyle of the designer or anybody else involved in the production ...I’m buying a damned suit!

Elton John is the biggest loser, here. Although some conservatives will view Rush Limbaugh hiring the world-famous singer to entertain at Limbaugh's wedding as an 'endorsement' of homosexual behavior, most will see it as one mega-rich, famous person hiring another mega-rich and famous person for a one-time-only music gig, not as any kind of 'endorsement' of homosexual behavior.

However, I expect that the always-fanatical homosexual 'activist community' will see flamboyantly gay Elton John entertaining (for a million dollars) at the wedding of the hated Rush Limbaugh (who steers clear of addressing homosexual issues) as a sell-out of major proportions. Rush Limbaugh has been demonized for decades by the left and those folks tend to be touchy that way.

Elton is rich, famous and gay enough to fend off the expected opprobrium from the fanatical homosexual 'activists'. Rush will be hated by gay as well as straight leftists today, just as much he was before the wedding, so that's a wash for him...not that he really cares what the left thinks about anything. In fact, Rush probably wanted to tweak the lefties by hiring Elton John and Elton probably thought that Rush (who earns well over 30 million per year) wouldn't pay him a million dollars to entertain for a few hours. Elton was wrong....Rush wins.

Disappointing that Limbaugh would endorse sodomy in this way.

Geez, try thought. The first one hurts, but it'll get better as you go along.

A lot more than can possibly marry older men with $400 million radio contracts -- the supply of poverty-stricken old men must number in the tens of millions.

John has not made a statement on why he chose to perform for Limbaugh

Because they're soul mates.

It sounds like the majority on this board asked the band members at their wedding reception what is your sexual preference instead of what song’s are you going to play.

I’m not surprised the Big Guy got Elton for the wedding. Dame Elton is a fine musician, just a messed-up human being. The more interesting question is, given Dame Elton’s politics, why he agreed to do the gig for the Big Guy.

What was Elton John doing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding?

Well we know one thing for sure, it wasn't Rush's new wife!

Seriously, who cares?

I hope they had a good time and wish them the best of luck!

I wonder what the reaction would be if he had the late Liberace perform at his wedding?

Sounds like everybody sold a little piece of themselves in this deal. When I worked for a major rock star management charged double or triple the going rate to play a private gig like this one.
