Oh pffft. Mississippi doesn’t spend near as much on the welfare program as New York, etc. Mississippians are every bit as smart and hardworking as anyone in the country.

In dollar amounts, no, but per capita, I'm guessing MS is right up there. Sadly, there are folks have grown up with welfare as a way of life, and don't bother trying to better themselves through education or hard work. Those who do are criticized by family and friends.

Having grown up there, I know some of those folks. Every state has them.
