Entenza is the latest to take a shot
Associated Press Mississippi is one of the poorest, fattest states in the nation. As a punch line, it's the gift that keeps on giving for politicians in other places.
The latest candidate using Mississippi as an example of what-we-don't-want-our-state-to-be is Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza.
One of three Democrats in an Aug. 10 primary, the former state representative started running a TV ad Thursday with images of Minnesota construction workers, school children, fire trucks and police cars fading away.
"If budget cuts were always the answer, then Mississippi would be a leader in this country," Entenza says in the ad.
It's a line Entenza also weaves into speeches as he runs for an office that Republican Tim Pawlenty will leave early next year.

However, if you look at education, Minnesota does outscore Mississippi and many other states in that area. If you parse the demographics, Mississippi is at or above the national average.

I’ll take your word on that. I realize that figures don’t lie, but liars can figure.
I’m not anti-Mississippi or anti-South by the way. I’ve never been to Mississippi so I can’t judge it one way or the other. What I have seen of the South (panhandle of Florida, Virginia) I would say that I love the South. I just don’t have any relatives living down there and the heat would probably kill me, so I suppose I’ll always be a Yankee by geography. 8(
I am a rebel at heart though. 8)

More pot and kettle.
To judge by some of his photographs, Entenza has a fat face. Has he been packing on the pounds? Notice the progression:
Also, the Teutonic Middlewest was long known for its heavy-set population. It looks pretty mean-spirited to pick on states that aren't so different from what Minnesota once was.
Aside from personal and regional insecurities, he's playing the race card. It will backfire on him.

Thank you for the ping, appreciate it.
Same old yankee crap and I am not talking about the location of a person's state or the color of their skin.
Post "civil" war, the political scalawags in DC blocked much needed industry and aid the state desperately needed to recover. This was a war the damnyankees initiated under false pretense to justify their barbaric war crimes. The profiteers then swarmed the state to devour the remains and kept away any hope of recovery. The yellow journalism that has plagued Mississippi to this day is a well worn pattern from perpetrators of abuse and rape; the inferior victim, not the abuser, is to blame, therefore deserving of further ridicule and continued abuse.
The "silver lining" is thieves don't bother areas they believe contain no valuables to "lift"
My references here are my parents, both very well educated Mississippians, forced to relocate to Texas for employment. This is the oral histories passed down from my parents and grandparents which experienced it.

Gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza's campaign office in St. Paul was burglarized this week, a police report showed. Several laptops, a video recorder and three cameras were stolen after someone broke into the suite that houses his office at 1919 University Ave., according to the report and police spokesman Sgt. Paul Schnell. It happened between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Police believe someone pried the door open, Schnell said. The stolen items were valued at about $3,000, he said. There is no suspect information. Entenza spokesman Jeremy Drucker said Friday: "It's one of the things Matt Entenza knows as a former prosecutor, that we need to be vigilant and rigorous in protecting our communities, and this is another example."
So why was this little "ditty" added? Perhaps to imply this is the work of white trailer trash, some racist military grade gun toting, southern bagger enraged at Entenza's bold expose' of the racist, backward, uneducated, fat because they don't eat like Michelle says to, cesspool of a state, Mississippi.

Guess that kinda lines up with what Jesus said about not storing up earthly treasures which can be stolen, but focus on the eternal, that can not.

Mississippi is the country’s political whipping boy.
It’s okay, though...they don’t know what we know about the state. If they did, they would move there. No need in dirtying up the place.

I’ve never seen a Governor belittled for balancing the budget, but I’ve noticed the race card being played more than I ever have before.
Is that all that they have?

Of course it would be politically incorrect to point out that Mississippi has the largest population percentage-wise of blacks of any state, which skews our obesity rates (and our academic standings, poverty ranking, etc). But I’ll point it out anyway.

Franken was NOT elected. We can't brag about our clean elections anymore either. Just as bad a Chicago.
That being said, if high scores in public education gets people like Franken elected, maybe we need to rethink what is really being taught.

When you really look at it, Minneapolis Kool Aid drinkers bash anyone who is from south of the Minnesota River, or north of I-694, unless they are from the liberal enclaves of the Northeast, Left Coast, Chicago, or Madison. A really closed minded group. I hear the Texas bashing quite a bit (evan living in Eagan, south of the Minnesota River). The view here in the Twin Cities Metro is anyone born in the South is a retard, and anyone who has otherwise spent a significant amount of time in the South is severely brain damaged. An exemption is granted however for Austin, TX (which is not really part of Texas, in spite of being the state capitol).

Oh pffft. Mississippi doesn’t spend near as much on the welfare program as New York, etc. Mississippians are every bit as smart and hardworking as anyone in the country.
