The Democratic congressman whom the Republican Party loves to paint as a far-left pinko is bragging about his popularity among his Republican constituents.

Today, Alan Grayson touted the results of a poll commissioned by his campaign that he said shows he has more support among Republican voters than all seven of his Republican opponents.

“I live in Grayson’s district. There are a lot of conservatives in this primary. Many to choose from. The question of who can beat Grayson the easiest will be top in my mind. This is not going to be an easy race.”

I don't live in Grayson’s district, but if I did what would be top in my mind is wanting to put the best person in Congress, not necessarily the one who might be “pushed” by the media as the “favorite” and strongest who would beat Grayson the “easiest”.

Right now, the media says Dan Webster is the strongest “Favorite”. Well I don't think the District 8 voters want the GOP elite pick! Webster was not going to run, then jumped into the race just before the deadline with immediate endorsements from Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush. Sounds kind of same old, same old to me.

When I look at the remaining Republican candidates, it is Dan Fanelli I would choose. He is a veteran, has great leadership experience, is a Constitutional conservative and is brand new to politics, not a lawyer/politician.

It is going to be a tough race as whomever the Republican candidate is, the candidate will be up against the Grayson/DEM machine. But I do know that Grayson is NOT LIKED by many in his own party and the Independent voters will certainly not vote for Grayson.

Really vetting the candidates and then making a decision is what will send quality leadership to Congress.

Webster is an authentic conservative. He was lured out of retirement by the GOP because they thought he could win, and they figured he has been subjected to scrutiny already so there is little risk. I don’t think he really is excited about taking on Grayson, though. Whoever does it is going to have to be willing to dish out and take a lot of crap. I don’t know if that’s Webster. Unfortunately, Grayson is way ahead of everyone in fundraising. All of the GOP hopefuls entered the race late in the game, with the exception of a couple who I would describe as dark horses. There are a lot of conservative choices, but some of them have baggage, and one thing we don’t need in challenging Grayson is someone with baggage. Todd Long, for example, lost the primary last time because of he was once an alcoholic. He may have put that behind him, but Grayson would make mincemeat out of him, as did Ric Keller. At least with Webster, you know you aren’t going to have that problem. He’s got an established brand, and I suspect that even the local media would have no difficulty falling in behind Webster.

“Webster is an authentic conservative.”

I am sure you are correct! Dan Webster has been in Florida politics for about 30 years. Perhaps it is time for him to retire.

It is time for some new blood in Congress instead of more GOP favorite picks! And one thing for sure, Dan Fanelli has no baggage, but a wonderful past of accomplishments!

ABOUT DAN FANELLI:
Dan Fanelli is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree, majoring in Economics with a minor in Engineering.
While at the Naval Academy, he was selected as a Company Commander, was on the wrestling team, and participated in the church choir. Upon the successful completion of Naval Flight Training School, Dan also received the coveted Naval Aviator’s “Wings of Gold”.

During Dan’s active duty, he excelled as a Naval Aviator and an Instructor Pilot. Fanelli learned early the character demands of leadership, courage and loyalty. After completing over 8 years of active duty, Dan served in the Naval Reserves for almost 12 more years and retired from the Naval Reserves after a total of 20 years of service, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

While serving in the Naval Reserves, Dan established a successful career as a commercial pilot with a major airline, again using the leadership skills acquired during his service to his country. Of notable significance, he was the Captain of a Boeing 727 aircraft on September 11, 2001. Captain Fanelli’s flight originated in Detroit, with a destination of Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. when the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were attacked by terrorists. Under these extraordinary circumstances, his flight was diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport where he landed safely with his crew and passengers. Dan’s recounting of the attacks while airborne is a particularly insightful and chilling look into the events of that tragic day and the character and leadership of Dan Fanelli.

Dan, after retiring early as an airline Captain in December 2007, has been a small business owner as well as a licensed real estate associate. Dan also holds a temporary State of Florida Public School Teaching Certificate. He has been a past Cub Master and Assistant Boy Scout Troop Leader, and has been very active in serving his local community.

Dan met his wife, Anne while he was a midshipman at the Naval Academy. They have been married 31 years and have three children (ages 20, 28, and 30). Dan and Anne are proud grandparents of twins born this past February. Dan and his family have been residents of Central Florida and Congressional District 8 for almost 20 years.

Yes, it is clear that Grayson is certifiable!

It is also clear that Dan Fanelli is certifiably the best constitutional conservative running in the District 8 Republican Primary!

I just hope the voters in FL-8 really take time to look at all the candidates and not just go with the “media choice” or GOP elite favorite!

Someone said that Webster is the best candidate able to win. Here is a guy drafted by Jeb Bush and the Huckster, both who have eyes on the White House.

Should thier candidate lose, they will likely recieve his campaign money into their respective pacs.

Not exactly the people’s choice.

Hard to believe but at one time this guy worked for Robert Bork and Antonin Scalia.

That was before he took up pot, booze, and meth.

You are right, I am sure! I have to believe that voters will take the time to really know whom they are voting for in all upcoming elections. And selecting a real constitutional conservative candidate in the Primary elections is a must!

Here in Florida I am seeing a few Tea Party groups push a certain Primary candidate over another. For example, the group will host a “Tea Party Event” and only allow one particular candidate in that district to speak.

If a Tea Party or other group wants to endorse a candidate they should do it with membership involvement and then publicly announce that endorsement. When folks go to a Tea Party event in their district they expect to see and hear more than one of the candidates running in the Primary.

I will say, that most Tea Party groups are not pushing one Primary candidate over another and are holding events inviting all the particular district candidates to have booths and speak at the events and/or forums.

Hi friends. On the Florida FR Forum I was accused of being “disrespectful” because I questioned the actions of two FL district 8 “Tea Party” groups and also questioned the process of the “I-caucus” group in their “I-caucus Endorsement” of candidates. Just sharing my reply here:
**************

I meant no disrespect towards anyone with my questions concerning Icaucus endorsements of candidates. I just wonder if the “Icaucus” group invited all Primary candidates to apply for their “endorsement”. I ask questions in my continual quest for the truth.

I do have questions when I notice a “Tea Party” group advertise a “Tea Party” event in a particular district and only invite one candidate from that particular district to speak or take part in the event. Most “Tea Party” and other grassroots groups hold events and forums and invite all the Primary candidates to have booths and speak at the events. They do this so voters in the particular districts will have a chance to get information about all the candidates in order to make their decision on whom they wish to support in the up-coming Primary elections.

I am a member of a local 9/12 group that did endorse a candidate running for Mayor of St. Petersburg, when that election came up. The process was made known to the entire membership, and was followed. Candidate forums were held which were open to the public. Polls were taken of the folks present, and the list of candidates were narrowed. The top three candidates for Mayor were then asked to answer a questionnaire that was carefully composed by the membership leadership and approved. The candidate answers were shared with the membership and the candidate was chosen by the membership. That is the way an endorsement by a group should be done.

I will continue to question what I consider to be “endorsements through actions” of any “Tea Party” group, when that particular group has not “publicly endorsed” a candidate. Inviting only one particular district Primary candidate to speak at a “Tea Party” event is clearly an action to question the agenda of that particular “Tea Party” group. Is it really a “Tea Party” group open to all the district candidates or a particular candidate PAC?

I do know that Patricia Sullivan was a co-founder of the “North Lake Tea Party”. She certainly did a wonderful job in helping to get that group up and running in the District 8 area. Once she entered the Republican Primary race in District 8, it is certainly understandable that many members of the “North Lake Tea Party” group would want to support Patricia. Certainly their choice. The event on June 12th hosted by the “North Lake Tea Party” has invited other area groups to attend which is great. Since the event is a “Support Arizona Rally”, folks will be sure to show up in great numbers. Perhaps the folks who attend from District 8 will expect to see and hear from Republican Primary candidates who are running in District 8. However the only district 8 candidate allowed to speak will be Patricia Sullivan. The other candidates were turned down. And of course, the hosting group, “North Lake Tea Party” has the right to make that decision. But wouldn’t it be more honest for them to state it is a “North Lake Tea Party Patricia Sullivan” hosted event? I did find out today that the leadership of the “North Lake Tea Party” decided to allow other candidates to have a booth at the “Support Arizona Rally” event even though they will not be allowed to speak. That action is to be commended as it at least allows the folks attending to have the chance to get information about more candidates who are running in the Primary elections.

As for my mention of “Tea Party Patriots Live”, here are the facts:
Phil Russo and Jason Hoyt are members of the Todd Long campaign. It is therefore expected that they would be “pushing” Todd Long on their radio show. However, when they ask for donations to the “Tea Party Patriots” group for the “Tea Party Patriots” tour to Arizona, folks need to be aware that the tour is a Todd Long Event. It is fine for Todd Long to step up to pay for this tour in support of Arizona, but it would certainly be more honest to let the public know it is really a “Tea Party Patriots Live Todd Long Tour” event since no other candidates from district 8 are invited to join the tour or allowed to speak at any of the events along the way. Are the donation checks for this tour being made out to “Tea Party Patriots Live” or to “Todd Long For Congress”? I would like the answer to that question.
And I certainly mean no disrespect in my questioning.

I posted comments on the Florida state forum in a follow-up to your post which appears both on that board and this one.

On this forum I'll just say "ditto" to your analysis and position regarding the Tea Parties. You're spot on.

I am with you on that! My goal is to see Florida go solid Republican come November and we have just 10 incumbent Socialist/DEMS to pink slip!

Vetting the primary candidates in each district is a must so we gain information on all the candidates to make our choice on whom we want to support. Here's hoping the best constitutional conservative candidates win the Primary elections in each Florida district!

Once the FL Primary is over, I will support the Republican candidates to defeat the DEMS. Then next time around we can pink slip any Republicans who act like RINO’s!

I hope you plan on attending the Freedom Pizza Party downtown in front of City Hall tomorrow night as we “Beep & Wave” while flying our flags & holding signs in support of Dan Fanelli for Congress!

Let's fire up the people of Orlando to show them there's a clear choice for them in November. We need to pink slip Alan Grayson, elect a Veteran not another lawyer, and send constitutional conservative Dan Fanelli to serve the people of Florida 8th Congressional District!

We will be meeting at 4:30 at the corner of South & Orange Ave in front of the Orlando City Hall. Come enjoy pizza and pop and show our support for Dan!

Bring family & friends-it will be a fun time! Please call (407) 509-4276 to RSVP as they need to make sure they have plenty of Pizza & Pop for everyone!

Looking forward to seeing everyone Tuesday evening, June 8th!
