Paul McCartney Bashes Bush in Front of Obama and White House Guests

Paul McCartney Bashes Bush in Front of Obama and White House Guests By Noel Sheppard Created 06/03/2010 - 15:14

Former Beatles star Paul McCartney took a cheap shot at George W. Bush Wednesday evening after receiving an award from Barack Obama.

McCartney was honored in the East Room of the White House by the President, his family, and a star-studded guest list that included Stevie Wonder, Dave Grohl, Faith Hill, the Jonas Brothers, Jack White, Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Jerry Seinfeld.

After receiving the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, McCartney told the audience, "After the last eight years, it's good to have a president that knows what a library is" (video follows with commentary):

Potentially even more disgraceful, those in the audience wildly applauded after McCartney made this disgusting comment.

Isn't that special?

Two weeks ago, a Mexican president got cheered [0] by Democrats in Congress when he insulted Arizona's governor and every American that supports that state's new anti-illegal immigration law.

Days later, a British pop star insults our 43rd president -- while being honored by our nation in THE WHITE HOUSE!!! -- and those in attendance think it's a riot.

Makes you proud to be an American, doesn't it?

Post facto exit question: McCartney is touring America this summer. Will this comment help or hurt ticket sales?

It never took brains to be a Beatle.

If Zer0 really had any class (ha ha) he would make some statement saying all people should be civil and partisan comments should be avoided at such White House gatherings. Like that would ever happen!

In any case it just annoys me that our side always feels as if we have to be “above the fray” and set a new tone and all that nonsense. We need a tough partisan fighter as the next GOP president, if the Dems don’t steal every future election. Sadly with the exception of Sarah Palin I don’t really see anyone on our side who is able to be the hell raiser we need. All the conservative firebrands are not in elected office, unfortunately.

It shows how ignorant Paul is. George W. and Karl Rove had reading contests as to who could read the most books:

Bush Is a Book Lover
A glimpse of what the president has been reading

Bush's book totals:

2006: 95

2007: 51

2008: 40

How many books have you read lately, Sir Paul?

“Some of you Freepers are old! :-)”

When my dad was my age, I thought he was ancient. Now I’m his age, and I’m in the prime of my life. If you’re under thirty, you’re just a babe. But enjoy it. It goes by fast.

Classy, like his daughter, who snarked, “high f-ing time” or wtte when “Sir” Paul the vegetarian bigot was inducted into the R’n’R Hall of Fame as a solo “artist”.

No, because most Americans won’t hear about this, and many of those that do are brain dead syncophants. Paul is just playing to his hosts. Interesting that this is the same Paul that rallied behind America right after September 11 with a fantastic song about fighting for our right to live in freedom. My how times have changed.

I’m surprised about that! Bono? Out of a lot of those international celebrities, he seemed to be one of the friendliest toward Pres. Bush! He had all kinds of praise for him when he was trying to help with money for AIDS treatment for people in Africa! I swear I don’t know what’s happened to some of these celebrities. I don’t know whether they run into very leftist supporters and fans who mock them for their views toward George Bush, or what!

I’m surprised he did say that if we had gotten comrade obama instead of George Washington, this country would have turned out a lot different.

Not only that, he defended then Pres. Bush to someone, a media person I suppose. He said something like: “He’s your president isn’t he? Then get behind him!”. His then gfriend/wife/ex.wife, Heather said that she found George Bush “very human” in the way he behaved after 9-11; Paul seemed to agree w/her. How sad-how soon people forget!

No, not forget. Discount.

Lenin said that "Everything is political". That defines the left. To them, everything is political. It is their identity . Without it, they are nothing.

A good lefty consciously decides whether it is in their political interest to feed their children in the morning.

So, how easy was it for McCarty to spew his left-wing bile? It came naturally...

"Jed Clampett was a hard-working, Bible-quoting, praying, God-fearing, morally upright, straight-shootin’, honest, guileless, common sense Mountain Man. Such people have INFINITELY more dignity and integrity than ANY of the trash in the White House at McCartney’s “Award” presentation, including the benighted Knight himself."

Well, now that you mention it.... you are exactly right!

It appears Obama got rid of one bust of an Englishman in the White House and replaced it with a different kind.
