White House press secretary Robert Gibbs acknowledged Thursday morning that White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina talked last September with Andrew Romanoff, the former speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, about possible administration jobs he might be qualified for if he didnt challenge Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., in the Democratic primary.
Last night, Romanoff issued a statement stating that Messina had floated the possibility of three jobs -- including two at the US Agency for International Development -- if he didnt run for Senate. Romanoff turned Messina down and is challenging Bennet, whom President Obama endorsed.
The Gibbs statement didnt contradict the one offered last night by Romanoff, though Gibbs added that Romanoff had applied for a position at USAID during the Presidential transition. He filed this application through the Transition on-line process. After the new administration took office, he followed up by phone with White House personnel.
Gibbs said that Messina called and emailed Romanoff last September to see if he was still interested in a position at USAID, or if, as had been reported, he was running for the US Senate. Months earlier, the President had endorsed Senator Michael Bennet for the Colorado seat, and Messina wanted to determine if it was possible to avoid a costly battle between two supporters. But Romanoff said that he was committed to the Senate race and no longer interested in working for the Administration, and that ended the discussion. As Mr. Romanoff has stated, there was no offer of a job.

Wonder who asked the question? Probably Jake Tapper. He’s getting better.
And still nothing will happen.
Can we get an orange... or better yet, AZ Joe Arpaio PINK... prison jumpsuit on him?
Investigated ourselves and found that once again, we did nothing wrong.
Have a nice day. :)
Maybe this is what the Obozo meant when he said he was going to have a “laser-like focus on jobs.”
GUILTY
Wouldn’t he just be deported to his nation of origin?
“Romanoff turned Messina down”
So does this mean and offer WAS made by the administration?
How to you ‘turn down’ something that wasn’t offered to begin with?
Some Democrat is lying... but.. I repeat myself.
So the following;
“Messina called and emailed Romanoff last September to see if he was still interested in a position at USAID”
is supposedly NOT a job offer? Do they really think we are all that stupid?
In the REAL WORLD this is DEFINITELY a ‘counter-offer’ for employment! Let’s look at it this way... You apply for a job, and are passed over for another applicant. Months later, after you have decided you no longer want that job they call you offering you a position at their company seeing as they heard you were seeking a job with their competitor and their original applicant didn’t work out. How can this NOT be an offer for a job with the administration?
How can this NOT be a bribe intended to remove competition from their chosen candidate?
I honestly can’t believe they would be so ‘open’ about this. I’m sure this goes on a LOT, but it doesn’t make it right... Enough is enough — throw ALL these people in jail, and that includes the candidates for office that did not IMMEDIATELY report these job offers/bribes to the proper authorities.
What a sad state of affairs it is that the Marxist gets a free pass.
No, that wasn't really my money in my freezer, that was someone else's money who was storing it there to demonstrate what might be available to me if I worked hard and kept my nose clean. It was a motivational tool, not a bribe.
If ABC is writing about this, they must feel it is a non-story and NOTHING will happen to Obozo.
“Investigated ourselves and found that once again, we did nothing wrong.”
This Administration reminds me of the 70’s British sitcom “Are You Being Served?” The old lady, Mrs. Slocombe, who ran the woman’s counter in the store would always make a statement and then follow it up with a defiant exclamation of, “... and I am unanimous in that!”
X million bribes saved or created!
“Months earlier, the President had endorsed Senator Michael Bennet for the Colorado seat, and Messina wanted to determine if it was possible to avoid a costly battle between two supporters”
Suuure, it was all to avoid a costly battle....had nothing to do with getting Obama’s darling Bennet out of a primary fight, not at all folks, nothing to see here.
C’mon now. Messina asked Romanoff if he was interested in the job. When Romanoff said he wasn’t, Messina didn’t offer it to him. See? It just depends on what the meaning of is is.
Are we to believe there are only these TWO?! EVERY TIME that Obama has abused his Executive appointment power in this manner to influence the outcome of a Democratic primary, Obama has "saved" MILLIONS of campaign dollars for HIS political party to use against his political opponents in the general Congressional elections. That is CLEARLY against the law! Just like cockroaches , when you see a couple ... ... there's many, many more hiding under the cupboard.
