Andrew Romanoff, the former speaker of the Colorado house of representatives, issued a statement Wednesday evening claiming that the White House raised the possibility that he might be offered an administration job if he opted to not challenge incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo.
Romanoff also released what he said was an e-mail from White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina outlining three possible jobs -- deputy assistant administrator for Latin America and Caribbean for the U.S. Agency for International Development; director of the Office of Democracy and Governance at USAID; and director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency – he could have if he didn’t run.
Romanoff did not accept any of the offers, and currently is challenging Bennet, who has the endorsement of President Obama.
The White House did not comment. The statement comes as the White House attempts to distance itself from the controversy stemming from attempts – also unsuccessful – to convince Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., to not challenge Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., in the Pennsylvania primary. Sestak ultimately defeated Specter.

Morning Joe had Mike Allen on discussing this. According to the statement released today by the WH, Romanoff had previously applied for one of the positions during the transition and they were simply ‘reminding him’ that the position still remained open. However he was offered THREE possible positions, not one, and therein lies the problem IF the MSM is willing to pursue it. I gathered from the panel it wasn’t a big deal and the only fault they found was in how sloppy it was handled by an Admin. who promised transparency.

If he has verifiable email, then there should be a matching “sent” email in the WH database somewhere, or else they have tried to erase it and cover it up.
I’d never heard that expression before this. I see that it’s a British and Irish idiom, which explains it.
Speaking of TARP funds, evidently that was how the Georgia governor was planning to pay off NCR’s leadership to move the company from Dayton Ohio (where it was founded over 100 years ago) to Atlanta.
The move is occuring, but I read somewhere & can no longer find it, that after the TARP money accusation was raised, suddenly the money was no longer available for what I like to call the Payoff.
Hoping there is some truth to this and that the head of NCR who is a close friend and fundraiser for the clintoons, did not get his big payoff. That would be just deserts for the shabby treatment of NCR employees and Dayton in general.
I’m sure the truth of the matter will be hidden away and the guilty will be protected.
Aa with most Liberal crimes this will go unpunished.

Well, you know what, Whitey? The black man is about to find out what it’s like to be the overlord. For every black who laughed, and mimicked, and called white people names like “whitey”, “peckerwood”, and “ofay” behind his back, and then averted his eyes and said nothing when Whitey was around, let them enjoy the fact that none of what’s gone on has changed anybody’s opinion of “those people” one iota for the better.
