Seriously, I don't get it. I see so many anti-Israel and anti-Semitic posts on the internet. Why not love our only real ally in the middle east?
Right on MrB. I’ve often wondered how such a powerful nation (the most powerful) could weaken to the point of not being even recognizeable in prophecy, it seemed incredible. Now, I can see it happening right before my eyes, and understand.
We’re so closely aligned, it’s bound to happen.
My Dad (RIP) - devout Roman Catholic, used to preach at us kids about defending Israel, no matter the cost.
When we grew old enough to question him about it, he’d simply say, “Because, what if I’m wrong” (referring to his Catholicism.)

I suspect there’s a lot of truth to that. Noentheless, it strikes me that that argument is not much different than saying that anyone who dislikes Obama is a racist.
Circumcision, monogamy and monotheism for starters. Some hate Israel because they see the state as colonials vs. the third world other.
Why do Muslims hate the Jews? Why do Muslims hate all “infidels”?
Because it’s in the Koran that Muslims are commanded to not only hate, but to feel themselves superior to, “infidels”.
No amount of placation nor appeasement by “infidels” will ever satisfy the Muslims away from their lethal hatreds.

Well for that matter, neither is there any mention of Brazil, Thailand, Portugal, Angola, Japan, etc....

Secondly there are the leftists. They hate the USA and our allies and idealize our enemies, no matter how abhorrent those enemies are. The left, all about women's rights and homosexuality previously, have a huge blind spot when discussing our ‘heroic’ ‘freedom fighter’ foes in the Middle East.
Then there are the anti-religious people of Jewish descent. They are overcompensating for the guilt unjustly inflected upon them by the leftists for being a member of a Western affluent and influential group.

Because the Israelis are more Western & similar to us ie. a lot of them have grandparents who were brought up in Western Europe, the US etc.
What I mean is a lot of the anti-semites may not be anti Jewish in the historical way, but they are lefties, and my theory is that lefties (or at least the ones over here) perhaps have a sense of self hate. They see robust and confident societies like Israel and America, and for reasons beyond me, choose to align themselves with the supposed ‘underdog’ ; who happen to be the Angry Muslims.
Funny when you look at this in depth; a lot of the pro Hamas are committed socialists, confirmed athiests, womens lib types, even an organisation calling themselves ‘Gays For Palestine’.
The fact that those masked youths in Gaza would slit their throats seems to have escaped them.

The Jews are hated because the Jews were chosen. The people you refer to are at war with God and all people of The Book. First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people. The ultimate goal — of leftists and Islamists alike — is to rid the eath of all of us.
