Seriously, I don't get it. I see so many anti-Israel and anti-Semitic posts on the internet. Why not love our only real ally in the middle east?
You bet, they are your neighbors, and only when they are dead, are your kids safe.
Confusion.
Yeah, but the question then becomes why is the media that way?
I just posted a link to someone here the other day that listed all the Jews in media. It’s quite a few really, and in high positions - particularly in the news business.
??
Years ago, until the mid-1960’s or so, the “left”, i.e., the intellectual “elite”, “liberal opinon”, etc. rather liked Israel. Part of this was because they were Jews, and Jews were in favor in those circles at the time. The bigger reason probably was because Israel was an opensly socialist (though democratic) state and something of an aspirational model for much of the US and European labor-union left. Vacationing on a kibbutz was in. Israel was also non-aligned. The US even refused to sell arms to Israel until about 1968, while arming Israels enemies Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
What changed ?
- The Soviets project of making the Arab states their allies eventually bore fruit, and countries like Egypt, Syria, Libya, Iraq entered the Soviet sphere. So Israel became an enemy of the Soviets and their powerful cheering section in the international left.
- The Palestinians (the PLO but other factions too) actively joined the “new left” in the 1960’s and became part of the same interrelated 1960’s revolutionary movements and propaganda that (also manipulated and encouraged by the Soviets) included gangs like the German Red Army Faction, Italian Red Brigades, the IRA, even the Japanese Red Army, among plenty of others. In the 1970’s the Japanese staged an attack in Tel Aviv and the Germans carried out the famous El Al hijacking that ended in Entebbe, besides actively helping various Palestinian gangs and receiving the help of countries like Iraq and Libya. The fan base behind all these extremists were of the same mind, and unlike the extremists these “68ers” for the most part took part in the “long march through the institutions” that placed them in most positions of cultural influence in the West. They took their political attitudes from their youth with them.
- The switch internationally from the old labor-oriented left to the “new left”, which was much more concerned with ideology, multiculturalism and post-colonialism instead of genuine labor issues. This permitted the blessing of states like Iraq, Syria, and Egypt as “revolutionary” and thus the “good guys” just because they were not “western”.
- To some degree - how much is impossible to say, maybe in 50 years it will come out - the Saudis and other Arabs with money, both publicly and privately bought a great deal of the western press and many “public intellectuals”.
I think that the only way Israel can be spared is for us in America to get these radical leftistDemocrats out of power in November. Obama is a Muslim. He is as far left as anyone can be. With control of both Houses of Congress and leftist lawyers in black robes sprinkled throughout the judiciary they are going for broke.
That means destroying Israel first and then destroying America. The education systems regularly have churned out traitors for decades. What the idiots on the left do not understand is that they will be put to the sword along with the rest of us.
Getting the Democrats out of office in November will make it much harder for Obama to do what he wants, which is to turn America into a third world nation.
There has been a rivalry between God and Satan since before the world was created. That fued still goes on today. Israel is Gods chosen people and people hate that. They have always tried to destroy Israel.
You have this alliance of the traditional European anti-semite and the political Left (the 2 are not mutually exclusive). Political Left thinks Israel is a continuation of Western Imperialism against the native Arabs therefore it must be opposed.
I did, and the answer is: it hasn't cost us nearly as much as our alliances with England and France cost us in the two World Wars.
Hardly a non-sequiter to point out that whatever the cost of our alliance with Israel, it absolutely shrinks to insignificance when put in the context of what our other alliances have cost us.
i suspect a lot of it is years of anti-israeli slant on stories in the press. For most americans, that is ALL they know.
Well, the answer that you've given -- then -- would only be valid for as long as there has been an "Israel" then -- which came about in 1948.
HOWEVER, the hatred of Israel actually comes from a lot longer before that, going back thousands of years, all the way back to the twelve sons of Jacob. All you have to remember is what Joseph said to his father and mother and brothers ... and you'll see the beginning of that hatred, even in his own family.
BUT, it even goes back further than that, in that it stems from the judgment in the Garden of Eden, even before there was a nation of Jews. It goes back to the promise of the "coming one" who would be the salvation for all. It was that "coming one" (who we now know as the Messiah of Israel) -- which caused the beginning of the hatred of the Jews, and thus, the nation of Israel.
Properly seen ... hatred for the nation of Israel began in the Garden of Eden, even before it was known that there were going to be Jews and even before it was known that there was going to be a nation of Israel. What was known, back then, was that there was a "coming one" who was going to be the salvation of the world -- and who would crush Satan under His feet.
Thus, when we see who stood to "lose" in that battle (i.e., "Satan") we see where this hatred ultimately comes from.
I've heard about "all in". Does this qualify as "all out"?
Serious answer, courtesy of MIT political science professor Tom Lehrer, in his article “National Brotherhood Week” published in multiple venues.
Oh, the white folks hate the black folks
And the black folks hate the white folks
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule
But during National Brotherhood Week
National Brotherhood Week
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clark
Are dancing cheek to cheek
It’s fun to eulogize
The people you despise
As long as you don’t let ‘em in your school
Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks
And the rich folks hate the poor folks
All of my folks hate all of your folks
It’s American as apple pie
But during National Brotherhood Week
National Brotherhood Week
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans
‘Cause it’s very chic
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can’t stand
You can tolerate him if you try
Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics
And the Catholics hate the Protestants
And the Hindus hate the Moslems
And everybody hates the Jews
But during National Brotherhood Week
National Brotherhood Week
It’s National Everyone-Smile-At-
One-Another-hood Week
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you
It’s only for a week, so have no fear
Be grateful that it doesn’t last all year!
The bottom line: lots and lots of liberals hate the Jews, and they don’t need any more reason than that.
IMHO People hate Israel and the Jews because they hate GOD.
They hate the GOD of Israel who is the GOD of all Creation
the *Prime Creator* and I truly believe the ones that are instrumental in that *Hate* is the *Prime Parent* Satan and Evil Fallen Angels that are inhabiting this earth....
However we know who wins, the one that will bring Everlasting Peace to the state of Israel and the whole earth.
Our Christ...The Annointed one who takes away the SINS of the Whole World...
Come soon LORD..We so await your Glorious Return!
GOD Bless Israel!
Perhaps not but I don’t think it is the rank and file who are expressing hatred for Israel.
If you are looking for a straight answer to that question, then you have come to the wrong place!
Imagine if the world treated North Korea the same way that they treat Israel...............
And before Zero, they followed Hitler, Stalin and Mao. It is never-ending because it is the ultimate expression and nature of Marxist ideology. Death and oppression is the ultimate outcome. Time and time again.
I think the best and truest explanation I’ve ever heard on this outrageous and disproportionate hatred for Israel came from a Rabbi many years ago...
“When God chose Israel, so did Satan.”
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
I don’t tend to try to argue or even engage “mockers” anymore. God hasn’t granted them the grace of the truth yet, so there’s nothing I can do to make them see it.
“Youre free to ignore the Scriptures and stand against Israel. That will actually become the prevailing viewpoint, all the way up to Armageddon.”
Thank you for admitting support for Israel has everything to do with Biblical apocalypse prophecy and nothing with realistic foreign policy or the security of this nation.
