When it comes to the BP oil spill disaster, the White House press corps wants blood and raw emotion.
They want President Obama to throw a tantrum worthy of being featured in a Coors Light commercial.
Think Dennis Green. Or Jim Mora ...
They don't want Tom Landry or Tony Dungy. They want Ditka. Even better Hurricane Ditka.
You could tell that on Tuesday at the White House ... Robert Gibbs was repeatedly asked about President Obama's robotic or perhaps Vulcan-like response toward the oil spill.
"Have you seen the President enraged about this?" asked one reporter.
"Throughout this process, absolutely."
"Do you think that that has come through to the American people?" the reporter followed.
"I think the American people are frustrated. I think the people of the Gulf are frustrated. I think the President is frustrated. I think the White House is frustrated. I dont see how anybody could look at whats happening in the Gulf and not be frustrated and heartbroken -- absolutely," Gibbs said.
Expect a follow-up? Yep. Don't say frustrated and heartbroken when the reporters are talking about rage. They aren't asking him to write a country song. They want to know about jugular-popping, chair-flinging across the Oval Office, Bobby Knight-like rage.
"You said earlier that the President is enraged. Is he enraged at BP specifically?" asked CBS reporter Chip Reid.
"I think hes enraged at the time that its taken, yes," Gibbs answered. "I think hes been enraged over the course of this, as Ive discussed, about the fact that when youre told something is fail-safe and it clearly isnt, that thats the cause for quite a bit of frustration."
There he goes again. Gibbs mentions the word "frustrated" but reporters want to know about rage. Shirt-tearing, Lou Ferrigno exploding, Christian Bale screaming RAGE.

“This is a big DAMN f***in’ deal!” - Barack Insane Obama
You shouldn’t be ashamed. Everybody is doing it.
Damn my poll numbers are plummeting...
We had similar words to say about Obama’s election.
Carter II
I’ve noticed in the past few days that CNN is covering this even more thoroughly than Fox, or at least when I’m tuning in, that is the case. In fact, when they had Jindal on today [tape is at the first comment on this thread], they aired it for quite some time, while Fox was busy with Beck ... so this is good news ...
This ‘explosion’ has exposed or at least should have exposed the fear mongers claim that this earth is about to run out of oil.... Now that is enough to enrage any liberal.
And BamBamKennedy appears to be more robotic than human. I do not think he was plugged in, in time, to respond in the manner required to continue the ‘imagery’ of his campaign.
It looks to me as if a couple or more of this tethers have been freed, and he is about to become a blow away balloon, like those Colorado parents tried to hoax US with last year.
He’s pissed that after he took credit for stopping it, they didn’t get it done.
I want to see Zer0 Jack Bauer enraged!
So enraged that he pokes his pencil all the way through his golf scorecard!
So enraged that he tells Pelosi to take a flying F#%K!
So enraged that he tells Rahmbo to get aboard the “peacekeeper” ship heading toward Gaza, and don’t come home until all the commando’s are dead!
So enraged that he finds his long form Kenyan birth certificate, and throws it into the fireplace!
(Well, maybe not that enraged.)

Hmmm... I have also been checking out CNN lately to see just how they are handling this affair. I have to agree with you somewhat that they do seem to be trying to show the “other” side. Now don’t get me wrong, I really think that their left flank is raising heck and they are just responding. I really do not believe that they are changing their ways - both sides of the issue.
Just in case they are, I will continue to monitor their activity. Heck, even CNN cna change to increase their ratings...heh.
Oh, I don’t think that they are really covering the oil spill more thoroughly - it’s just that they don’t cover the other news (that they don’t want to cover). That does free up a lot of time...ha.
WTF kind of question is that moronic softball question?
C'mon what's Baghdad Gibbs going to say?
"Oh no! I haven't seen him mad about this. In fact he couldn't give a dump about the situation, he has his golf game, where's Lebron going to play next year and vacations to worry about."
Since when is “being mad” a substitute for actual leadership in a crisis?
For gawd's sake, Obama is a guy who used a U.S. Senate seat as nothing more than a bus stop on the road toward his (and his puppet masters') ambitions. He doesn't give a flying f**k about that oil disaster. Heck I'd wager he's already lost interest in the JOB of being president, although I'm sure he enjoys the luxury living aspects of it.
Did you hear the part where Gibbs says: “He’s been enraging all over the place. Enraging all the time he’s been in Chicago, playing golf. And enraging at the soccer game. And really enraging on the beach when he picked up that tar ball. Doncha know how enraging those tarballs are? He’s just been so enraging he’s all the way up to becoming frustrating!”
Certainly would like to have someone look into this....TOO many unanswered questions....Are we being manipulated?
Really... I am enraged
A managed crisis gone awry? I would not doubt this one bit. They want all drilling stopped in The USA.
I guess he couldn’t get a cone!
“What never?”
“No never!”
“What never?”
“Well.....hardly ever!”
Pirates of Penzance. Gilbert and Sullivan. (Damn fine song too!)
