... if there is a pipe up from the ground why couldnt you put a cork in it like a wine bottle?If you were about a mile away from the bottle, good luck with corking it. Plus, the "stem of the bottle" is bent, so they have to cut it away to have access from the top. Hopefully this attempt will start to reduce the flow.

Looks like slow going. Did you see them tighten the nut on the saw blade using the robot arm as pliers? They are still going at the small pipe on the side.

I don’t understand why they are cutting right there. Just below that place it looks like the pipe is largely parted. Maybe they want a clean cut so the blade won’t bind, or something.
... In fact it looks like they’re getting some binding. I would expect it, cutting into the bottom of the overhanging bend. It will close the kerf when it sags.
