Very interesting.
(Excerpt) Read more at bp.com ...
I am unsure of the reason(s) for the explosion in the first place...can anyone explain? TY
OMM...Way too funny from a guy who enjoys WOOD
This is horribly horribly wrong...
If the well and BOP package can handle the pressure, they should be able stop most of the leakage if they want to. BP has to have a want to and something to work with of course.
Looks like there is a lot less coming out of # 9 now than an hour ago — Enterprise ROV 1 (One of the side vents)??
Just as an example propane expansion rate from liquid to vapor is 270 to 1. This means one gallon of Propane will produce about 270 gallons of propane in the air and liquid natural gas (LNG) has an expansion ratio of 1 to 600 when going from a liquid to a vapor at one atmosphere. So the plume spewing out of the cap looks much worse than it is because of the rapid expansion of gases.
That is true. BTW, the cap hasn’t blown off yet has it ? My live feed is not working right now so I can’t tell. So is it still on the BoP but leaking ? That is all I am hoping for at this point, because as you said, as long as the cap is strong enough then they can adjust the sealing and do other types of things to cut the leaking, if they have the desire, and by now I don’t doubt they do.
I was thinking of ordering one....
Yep, that good ole Ideal Gas law is exactly wht I was thinking about. I wonder how many among the public who watch this even know about things like our friend the Ideal Gas Law.
To a hammer all problems look like nails. To a community organizer all problems are solved by lawyers.
I know, CNN mostly sucks, but there may be a little bit of worthwhile info from intelligent guests. One can hope, anyways...
People drive past a refinery in the winter and see steam rising in the cold air and they assume it is all pollution. Same deal here, they see the big plume and think that Flipper is dying somewhere.
I don;t know about that. If I was trying to observe what was happening and hearing and seeing commentators from CNN fo rthis whole ordeal, I would probably have to start turning to the hard drugs, or at least coke, by the end of it.
all I see is the BP link w the aluminum contraption and oily flumes
That is all I was seeing in one feed as well, I was worried, and still sort of am, that maybe something happened that they did not want us to see. If the cap did get blown off, I imagien you could easily see the oily fumes get way bigger in an instant.
All I have here is Claritin, so I may be in trouble. Lemme go check the yard for mushrooms....
What is driving me crazy is these reports of plumes and columns of oil mysteriously lurking underwater and traveling throughout the gulf. Oil is lighter than water and will rise to the surface.
LKL just came on with the useless Marxist-in-chief interview.
Time for me to change the channel.
