Very interesting.

“...there is a 100 % chance it will be deemed a failure
once it happens. That means you cannot find out what is
going on from any news outlet about how well they are doing...”
-
That’s because, as my Dad used to say,
“The world is just eat-up with dumb-asses.”
Ocean Intervention ROV #2 has great view right now
People talk about what the motivation BP would possibly have in wanting to stop the oil leak. The stories that BP actually wants the leak to continue are always floating about. I would that at this point getting the MSM to just f&&king shut up about it would be all the motivation and inspiration hey need now.
“...whos the genius that let all those hoses hang down all over the place...”
-
Been wondering the same thing myself.
When they approach the plume, I expect to see
those hoses flailing around all over the place.
Why weren’t they secured?
Seems to be too much of a chance
for them to get snagged on something.
The Cap looks like something a mad scientist cooked up in his lab.
I am having this flash of someone in the control screaming “IT’S ALIIIIIVVVVVEEEEEEEE” as soon as the cap is in placed and siphoning oil. LOL
I am late to the thread. What are the hoses? The antifreeze?
Now that’s an eerie view from “Ocean Intervention III - ROV 2”
The champagne bottle blowing its top and the cork in the distance. :)
“What are the hoses?”
-
I think they are the methanol and hot water lines.
But, I don’t know.
wondering how possible it will be to maneuver the cap over that blast of oil without it flipping away - is it rigidly attached to the drill ship?
As Cool and the Gang would say, “Get down on it!”
You might be right on the antifreeze. They are going to pump something in (methanol?) to keep the methane from forming the ice crystals that blocked the pipe the last time and kept them from recovering the oil.
Probably tethered to the ROV’s
do you think there’s a thread like this over @ Democrat Underground, LOL
Somehow, “Crusty old Prospector” and “Cool and the Gang”
just don’t seem to go together...
So you mean the seal and its cap was blown off already ? Uh oh, that is for sure discouraging if that is what you mean. It then seems like they really were rushing it and letting hysteria get to them or something.
And I misspelled “Kool”. I ain’t that crusty.
1. That it is successful - works and captures most of the oil.
2. That it is partially successful. Sort of works with fair amount of leakage.
3. Fails - mounts successfully but must be removed due to clogging, MH build up or other problem such as issues at the surface ship.
4. Fails - can not be mounted to BOP due to pressure, turbulence or obstruction problems.
5. Catastrophic fail - mounts but pressure surge blows out the whole well head.
6. Other - explain
I'm going for 2.
Yeah- that will be interesting. I wonder if several ROVs can hold onto it and manuever it into place? Although I imagine the jet of oil is way more powerful than the ROVs.
I also hope that all those hoses will be up high and out of the way or they’ll just be a tangled mess as soon as they get close to the jet.
but are they strong enough to hold it in that torrent of oil?
