President Obama says other approaches might be viable if latest effort fails.
President Barack Obama warned Wednesday there are “no guarantees” BP's latest attempt to plug the leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico will work.
Obama, speaking in Fremont, Calif., said if the “top kill” plan does not work, there are other “approaches that might be viable."
The leaking well is becoming a larger political problem for the administration as oil continues to spill into the Gulf of Mexico from an oil rig explosion 37 days ago. Obama is headed to the gulf on Friday for a second time.
The “top kill” approach involves trying to plug the leak by pumping thousands of barrels of very dense mud into the well.

BP has said the Top Kill attempt has a 60~70% chance at success.
It has never been done before in this deep of water.
Why can’t they drill closer to shore in shallow water? If this was in shallower water I would assume it would be easier to cap the leak.
Funny ... he’s still married to the Republican, I presume. Anyway, it was fun to see him so hot about this situation, being a strong Obama supporter and all. Did you also hear on Fox where if top kill doesn’t work, they’re going to put a bunch of golf balls in the pipe along with other assorted stuff. DH joked, they could hire professional golfers to do the job ...
