Ohio: GOP Recount In 18th, But Gibbs Prepares For Space
Congressional Quarterly ^ | May 25, 2010 | Greg Giroux

A recount of the May 4 Republican primary in Ohio's 18th district will be needed to officially determine an opponent for Rep. Zack Space (D).

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner (D) ordered the recount Tuesday, after a canvass of votes in the 16 counties had state Sen. Bob Gibbs leading former Ohio Agriculture Director Fred Dailey by 156 votes out of 52,700 cast, 20.94 percent to 20.65 percent, a margin of just less than three-tenths of one percentage point in a race that included six other candidates.

Under Ohio law, recounts are required when the margin of victory is less than one-half of one percentage point.

Gibbs on Tuesday declared victory in much the same way he did on primary night, when a final unofficial tally had him ahead of Dailey by 164 votes. His campaign said Tuesday it was confident his victory would stand, given that recounts rarely shift many votes in an era of electronic balloting.

Dailey has not conceded the race.

It’s round two in the Republican primary. It may be a month before we know who won.

Brunner is an example of why this is important.

If Bob Gibbs wins the recount, he should seriously consider changing his name before November.

Why? Republicans will know it isn’t the same and it could benefit us when a few stupid democrats think they recognize the name?

I hope this doesn’t negatively effect our chances at Space.

Dailey should probably give up.

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner (D) ordered the recount...

I would seriously question anything this (censored) does. She should be in prison for the voter fraud she has already committed.

Sadly even FReepers seem to think this is just a minor irritation but if the SOS project is successful, we may as well quit voting because there isn't any way in hell we'll ever overcome their efforts. They've won in 11 of 13 states they've tried because nobody pays attention.

Just check out their candidate for Michigan SOS. Benson has been groomed to steal elections.

During the 2004 Presidential election, Benson was hired to develop the first nationwide Election Protection program for the Democratic National Committee. Benson selected, recruited, and trained Voter Protection coordinators in 21 states. The program resulted in deployment of over 17,000 trained election law lawyers.[3]

After working with the Michigan Democratic Party's election protection effort in 2006,[3] Benson developed and supervised two statewide nonpartisan election protection efforts in Michigan in 2007 and 2008.[1] She worked with Michigan Democratic Party's election protection effort in 2006. During the 2008 election, she was called to testify before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee,[4] where she called on Secretary Terri Lynn Land to ban the use of foreclosure lists to challenge voters' eligibility on Election Day.[5] She is a frequent commentator on voting rights and election law on local news and radio broadcasts.[3][6][7][8]

In 2007, Benson worked with several groups to successfully block the closure of a Secretary of State branch office in Buena Vista Township, Michigan. The U.S. Department of Justice concluded that the closure of the office would violate the Voting Rights Act.[9]

Benson is currently an Associate Law Professor at Wayne State University Law School, where she teaches Election Law. She is also an appointed member of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Election Law.[1] Being a member of the committee inspired her to create the Richard Austin Center on Election Law and Administration. The Austin Center, incorporated in October 2008, seeks to work with local election administrators to promote innovations and improve the election administration process in Michigan.[2]

Prior to her appointment as a Professor, Benson served as a law clerk to the Honorable Damon J. Keith on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. From 2002-2004, she served as the Voting Rights Policy Coordinator of the Harvard Civil Rights Project, a non-profit organization that sought to link academic research to civil rights advocacy efforts,[1] where she worked on the passage of the federal Help America Vote Act.[3]

In March 2010, Benson published her first book, State Secretaries of State: Guardians of the Democratic Process. The book highlights best practices of Secretaries from throughout the country and seeks to inform voters about how Secretaries of State from either side of the political spectrum can work to advance democracy and election reform.[3]

Benson and the Wookie. She'll also be meeting with Van Jones in Michigan this week.

Sadly even FReepers seem to think this is just a minor irritation ...

It is more than sad, it is pathetic. Some of us have been trying to get the word out about the SoS Project for a few years now, only to be ignored or ridiculed.

...but if the SOS project is successful, we may as well quit voting because there isn't any way in hell we'll ever overcome their efforts.

IF? They have been successful, especially in the last 2 election cycles. The bastardization of the '08 election by SoS Project darling Brunner in Ohio alone should have been enough to wake folks up, but noooo!

Reading the blurb you posted is like reading a bad joke.
What do they call this...projection?

They are stating clearly what they are doing by calling it the opposite of what it obviously is. For instance, Election Protection program, is not protecting anyone but the DemonRAT candidates.

Laws and deadlines have been passed and ignored, see HAVA, and nothing is being done about it. When felons, the dead, illegal invaders, pets and cartoon characters are permitted to vote, there is nothing free or fair about our elections. Nothing!
