Claiming that there are too many files to sort through, Clinton Library officials wont provide the Senate Judiciary Committee with crucial information on Elena Kagans work in the administration in time for her confirmation hearings.
The committee, which considers judicial nominations, requested that the Supreme Court nominees records be furnished before the start of her June 28 confirmation hearings. The information is especially important because Kagan has no judicial experience and therefore no paper trail of legal opinions.
That essentially makes her Clinton Administration work her most important, and perhaps revealing, to date. Kagan was a top White House counsel under Bill Clinton who later got elevated to deputy assistant for domestic policy. Clinton also nominated her to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia but she never received a confirmation hearing from the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Now the committee wants documents related to Kagans time as a top presidential assistant, when she worked on policy matters dealing with firearms, tobacco and campaign finance. Senators have asked the Clinton Presidential Library for files, letters, memos and electronic mail to be considered before her hearings. The director of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum says it will be very difficult to meet the deadline...
Kagan, President Obamas Solicitor General, is a liberal activist and political operative with financial ties to Goldman Sachs, the global investment firm embroiled in a major fraud scandal. As dean of Harvard Law School, she worked for the Wall Street titan that donates generously to Democrats.

Read: The cover-up starts. There is something in those files that will derail her.
Won’t release the files? Too much to sort through?
Gee. How convenient for Kagan.
Some things just don’t change...
Well this was surely unexpected.
So what will our pubbies do? cower in the corner, or demand they be released?
This is the first anti-American judge ever proposed for the Supreme Court.
How about, what would Schumer do, and just do that.
Those files belong to the people.
Change the deadline, this is a lifetime appointment. Because of some arbitrary deadline set - they will try to push through ( not a surprise, the files must contain info. that is damaging.)
They learned well from the present administration. If information is not made available, she should not even be considered.
Now the question is will any of those pussies in Congress have the balls to filibuster?
Delay the hearing until the files are available.
First, before that, the Republicans should boycott the committee’s confirmation hearings on Kagan. I say that seriously.
They should issue a statement that, because the bulk of Kagan’s documents are being refused release, the hearings are therefore a sham and they refuse to take pat in a sham.
IOW, there's too much there that needs to be covered up.
Fine. Subpoena them.
I smell a rat.
Congress could easily fund hiring some reinforcements if they wished.
Unfortunately, very few of us have the confidence in our Republican Senators that they will do anything but accept that answer and vote to confirm her anyway.
What a pair...
FOIA? If Democrats in congress are in cahoots with Obama and are trying to gum up the works, then go to the courts directly. Just a thought.
