As I told you a few weeks ago, this November the voters of California will decide whether or not marijuana should be legalized or not. In the article, Legalizing Marijuana, So Politicians Can Spend More Money, I gave my reasons for being against the initiative. After all, the last thing we need to do in California is feed the drug habit of politicians by giving them another product to tax millions of dollars on for their already failed programs. That's right, tax dollars is just as addictive to politicians as crack cocaine is to those caught in it's web of short term euphoria. History has shown us that if a politician just smells tax revenue that they will break as many laws as a drug addict to get their fix.
Well there was a scientific study done a few years back on the effects of certain drugs on spiders, and the results were astonishing. What they discovered was that different drugs had different effects on the way the spiders created their webs. The results from these types of studies should help convince those still on the fence about the dangers behind legalizing drugs, even marijuana.
Now this video has been out for anyone willing to watch it for a few years now. So some of you may have already seen it, but for those who have not, I guarantee you will enjoy it.

Studies on Spiders show the dangers of Drugs Like Marijuana (Very cool Video)

In case it hasn’t been mentioned by another poster,
back in the late sixties or early seventies one of the popular magazines
ran an photojournalistic articles about webs spun by spiders
“under the influence” of some of the “recreational drugs” of the era.
(I think this was in “Life” or “Look” magazine.)
It’s been DECADES, but IIRC, the spider dosed with LSD wove a totally
F-—ed-up web.
Not a strategy for long-term survival!!!
Humans don’t spin webs. Dogs can’t have chocolate or eat raw salmon. Spiders are alien creatures compared to mammals. Conclusion...this is BS.
If someone is smart enough to safely experiment with clean drugs and be a contributing member to society, let them. If someone is stupid enough to abuse dangerous dirty drugs and kill themselves, that's Darwin at work.
All the laws do is force the idiots to steal and put cash in violent criminal pockets instead of killing themselves quietly and cheaply. The laws do NOTHING to stop people from buying drugs. Right now, I can have any drug I want within a few hours. All I need is enough cash. If I was an addict, I'd have to steal since drugs cost more than gold. If drugs cost pennies, they could waste away until they starve and leave everyone else alone.
“Try like almost fifty years ago when the first account of dosing spiders and observing their webs was detailed in the TIME-LIFE science and nature encyclopedia popular in the early 1960’s.”
You’re right, Peter Witt did that in the mid-60’s

It caught a fly but couldn't bear to kill it?
Too much caffeine? It is amazing how quickly a defender of prohibition does a knee-jerk jump to that straw man when their defense of marijuana prohibition isn't accepted.
I thought the Canucks were already cool about pot. I mean, after all, if you had to live in 20-below winters, you’d be on drugs too. < /sarc >
Who the hell uses Chloral Hydrate in this day and age?
Last time I read of the stuff, it was being used in the thirties and forties to get alcoholics in rehab through the withdrawl stage without dying of the DT’s (replaced by valium).
Not quite as much fun as those pictures of spiders trying to string their webs in zero-g on Skylab.
Hmmmmmm.....
I’m not sure we shouldn’t legalize pot, but we certainly need to outlaw caffeine.
Thanks for the ping!
