Paul wins in Ky., Specter loses in Pennsylvania

WASHINGTON – Political novice Rand Paul rode support from tea party activists to a rout in Kentucky's Republican Senate primary Tuesday night, jolting the GOP establishment. Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter lost his struggle for political survival in Pennsylvania, a five-term incumbent offering experience to voters clamoring for change.

Another Democratic incumbent, Sen. Blanche Lincoln, led narrowly in early returns in her race for nomination to a third term in Arkansas, but she risked being thrown into a costly run-off.

In a fourth race with national implications, Democrat Mark Critz moved ahead of Republican Tim Burns in a contest to fill out the final few months in the term of the late Rep. John Murtha in Pennsylvania. Each political party invested nearly $1 million in that contest and said the race to succeed the longtime Democratic lawmaker was something of a bellwether for the fall.

The conservative Paul, savoring his triumph over Secretary of State Trey Grayson, told supporters: "I have a message, a message from the tea party, a message that is loud and clear and does not mince words: We have come to take our government back."

This morning, while driving through a checkpoint 20 miles north of Baghdad with the radio on, the BBC presenter, in referring to the voting yesterday, called the Tea Party the “radical Tea Party movement,” which means they consider those who support the US Constitution to be radicals.

Just another belief Obama and the BBC have in common.

Your link now goes to an article penned by the Queen of Disengenuous Herself, Liz Sodoti. From that article:

But it's difficult to say whether this early season trend will hold true during the general election; much could change between now and November, especially given the uncertainty of economic recovery after the worst recession in generations and an unemployment rate hovering at 10 percent.

Say what?? Economic uncertainty, the worst recession in generation and high unemployment will make the voting trend for democrats?

I want some of what you're smoking, Liz.

I’ve disliked specter for years. So glad to see him go. Hopefully McCain will soon follow.

No, they won’t. Their brains are frozen in the past, and even then they were wrong. FDR was an evil, evil man, one that could “do business” with Uncle Joe.

Still, on a personal level, I’m glad Arlen’s gone. Nobody loves, or trusts, a traitor, or if that’s too strong a word for you, try the phrase, “someone who betrayed” you or anyone else.

I would like to say that I wish Specter well, but I don’t. Traitors should be shown no quarter, period.

May his last few lonely years be haunted by the memory of his traitorous deeds, as well as his failed and disgraceful service.-spit-

Like a volcano, there are several smaller tremors before the big show. These results are the small tremors. Novemeber 2 is the BIG SHOW.

Would not a weakened Specter be an easier candidate to face by the GOP candidate in November? Does this really bode well for Conservatives? Just asking.

Truly, an odious man... Thrown out on his ass by his own party...

Nobody trusts a traitor...Benedict Arnold found that out too, after he betrayed his country to the enemy. Well-deserved forced retirement. My only regret is that we have to keep paying to support his miserable existence...

But did I mention I’m happy??? Do I sound it?

I’m sorry..was that wrong? Was that harsh? Was that mean? Do I care?

[grinning.....]

The best news of the night was Lincoln having such a close race in Arkansas. She’s going to have to spend another month attacking her fellow Dem and spending money, instead of focusing on her Republican opponent. If the leftie pulls an upset in the run-off vote, a big chunk of blue dog Democrat voters will likely switch to the GOP.

I thought it was funny that he had primary commercials from both Bush and Obama saying he was the ‘right’ man for both their parties. Spector WAS the model RINO.

Maybe McConnell will take him back now to the Republican side. GWB could vouch for him again. Remember, “Win back the congress, Defeat the enemy even if you have to recruit them to your side” LOL. Rabs would be doing a Spector Truth ping if that happened.
