Sad news. I just heard from her daughter that FReeper Bahbah passed away this morning from a ruptured aneurysm while making breakfast. Her family was with her when she passed and she was peaceful.
Rest in peace dear FRiend.
Prayers for her family and loved ones.

Star, your visit was also on behalf of many of us at Free Republic who had great affection for “Bahbah”, but were unable to visit ourselves. Thank you for conveying Free Republic's great sense of loss to the family and sharing with us that they read some of the postings here.
Thank you.

Terrible news ... a truly sweet, kind lady.
B, I loved the discussions, the banter and, most of all, I loved retiring my Borat beach photo, just because you detested it so.
It was a pleasure knowing you, my FRiend. This is so profoundly sad.

Ever since our retired parish priest died, every time I hear that song I think of him. It was one of his favorite tunes, and after his funeral mass, the parishioners broke out in spontaneous song singing it.
There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd.

My great grand Aunt Lou, whom I loved dearly gave me this framed poem when I was 14 and she was 83. She died a year later and is still, forty years later, sorely missed.
The Rose Still Grows Beyond The Wall
Near shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God’s free light,
Watered and fed by morning dew,
Shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed, fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength;
With never a thought of fear or pride.
It followed the light through the crevice’s length
And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before;
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing its fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve,
And make our courage faint or fall?
Nay; let us faith and hope receive;
The rose still grows beyond the wall,
Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.
