CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Sarah Palin says President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies would ban guns and ammunition if they could get away with it.
The former Alaska governor said during a speech Friday before the National Rifle Association that political backlash is the only thing stopping Obama from gutting the Second Amendment.

Of course he would. And if we don’t take back at least the House this fall, you can bet your house - if you haven’t lost it yet - that will come up next Congress.
Count on it!
Obama can’t pull off his complete take-over of America as long as we have guns. The minute a grab were to begin is the time to stop him. He can’t change laws that would nullify the 2nd Amendment w/o a change in the Constitution.
You know this is not true, right?
People said the same about Clinton for eight years. It was never true. Neither have any interest in taking our guns...this is bunk.
We did have the assualt weapons ban under Clinton did we not?
That’s a no-brainer.
Not just 0bama,
ALL of the left know they can’t implement their perfect society whilst the “resistors” have the means to defend themselves.
And they have no intention of implementing death panels or euthenasia either, right?
Oh, YES HE CAN, Sarah. If he wins 2012, guns will be a thing of the past. He could probably do it now. We seem pretty compliant. Bluster but no meat.
Oh please! How wrong can you get.
He will ban free speech, right to assembly, free press (internet), freedom of (some) religions, right to petition, and THEN guns.
You can BET that she’s correct. But I don’t think it’s necessarily the POLITICAL backlash that worries him most. He’s probably far more concerned about the millions who would “visit” DC with shotguns, rifles and pistols...all looking for HIM! The left hasn’t completely enslaved the American people because 150 million of us are armed. And you can bet that many of us will use them if necessary.
((((PING))))
right...exactly. there is no such thing as “death panels”..what they are talking about has existed for over 20 years. it is not a “death panel” nor is it euthanasia. I have had many elderly relatives who were counseled at the end of life. This counseling has nothing to do with death panels or euthanasia. There is enough with which to disagree with the President. One does not need to make things up. Esp when it is as ludicrous as this.
Yes we did. And it was endorsed by George W also. Assault weapons ban and banning guns are two very different things. Assault weapons ban was also endorsed by Ronald Reagan. So different. Never the twain shall meet.
The leftist oligarchs have the same respect for the Second Amendment that they have for the Constitution as whole. Which is to say: none at all.
I do not doubt for one second that if they thought they could accomplish it without violent consequences the authoritarian rats would confiscate every privately owned firearm they could get their hands on. I believe the only reason they have not moved to pass stifling regulation on firearms and ammunition is that they have bigger fish to fry and don’t want to instigate a political firestorm that would further hamper their agenda to subvert the Constitution and take effective control of every sector of the economy they can get their hands on. Once they feel they have control of the economy overall and that their power is sufficiently cemented in place they will act to put an effective end to Second Amendment rights.
OK, you’ve convinced me.
0bama and all the likeminded folks he’s surrounded himself with have no problem with individuals keeping and bearing arms.
What color’s the sky in your world?
Really? You must have been asleep when they passed the "assault weapons" ban, and banned the manufacture of high capacity magazines.
