Somalia rips Russian navy for casting captured pirates adrift
Pirates vow revenge on any Russians they capture after crew of hijackers abandoned in Gulf on Aden without navigation equipment or much hope of survival

Somalia’s transitional government called on Russia on Friday to explain why it had cut 10 Somali pirates adrift in the Gulf on Aden without navigation equipment or much hope of survival.
Russian forces last week stormed a hijacked oil tanker in a rescue operation that killed one pirate. Russia said 10 others arrested were later set loose aboard one of the small vessels they used in the attack.
A military official said they were stripped of their weapons and navigation equipment. Russian media later quoted a military source saying the pirates were now likely dead.

The Russian example seems like a reasonable response to piracy on the high seas. I’m willing to bet Russian ships won’t be hijacked anymore.
Fishing is a better long term career than piracy.

At least someone has some gonads (Russians). You’re right, they probably won’t even touch a Russian ship. For good measure, the Russians should fire warning shots at any suspected somalian pirates just to make sure they get the point. Now if only the rest of the civilized world would grow a pair. Why on earth does anybody care what Somalia thinks? Oh, I forgot, they’re muslims and we don’t want to upset muslims, do we?

I would invade them, Somalia. If you start your attack now, you might reach the outskirts of Moscow just in time for a winter campaign...
I’ll bet the Russians are really quaking in their boots over Somalia’s condemnation. I think thier way of handling this should be the International Norm. I think it was a couple of hundred years ago.

They are/were pirates. Everyone of the scumbags that are caught should be executed on the spot.
