1. There are not that many Europeans who want to come here. Even the Poles would rather go to Ireland or the UK if they can't get something going in their own countries.

2. If we adopted a point system based on skills, a la Canada, we would see more of a shift toward Asia and the Middle East in terms of our immigrant population, rather than Europe or Latin America.

3. There are plenty of Russians already in New York.

I know plenty of people back in the UK and Europe who would jump at the chance of coming here and yes they would work and respect the laws
