every drop of alc I consumed was necessary [as was a good chunk of my 'other 'idols'] to forge me into a tool for spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ... the fact that i percieved life in the world as 'hell on earth' thru imperfect lenses, and was then given Grace to go forward in Truth, is a Blessing indeed...

Same experience. You go back 16 years to 1994 parallel of this exact year and I can tell you the conservative republican principles were completely different than we saw when Republicans finally got the White House and Congress.

I was 16 years younger and it was a time for a tidal wave of optimism about conservative reform and reducing Washington's power. I really believed and it felt great! We have seen too much bad (including independents that believed in Obama) as has the rest of the country to have real hope again!

Right or wrong, I sent an email to the GWB presidential library telling them to take me off of their mailing list requesting donations. I am a Bush supporter but this leaves a very bitter taste in mouth. I feel like she is thumbing her nose at the *only* people who supported her husband throughout his presidency and even now. In the email, I told them perhaps they can rely on Laura’s newfound pro-abortion/gay marriage friends to fund the library since she felt so compelled to share those political views of hers with the world.

Excellent move and I will do the same when the next solicitation comes from the GWB presidential library.

Deer?! Legalities aside, I don't compete for food with deer...EVER. Back up way inside the house at a vantage point where you can see your target area through a window or door with a decent .22 rifle. I used a scoped .22 for years to kill them with. At 75 yards with a decent one, you should be able to hit em in the eyeball. Try to stay at eyeball level no matter where you hit them in the head because if you go over that, the skull can be thicker around the horn areas and penetration won't be as good. Try to stick to 40gr solid points if you have em. They go "better". :-) If you're far enough inside the house, nobody will believe that what they heard was a rifle report. :-)

If you'd rather not whack em with the .22, then consider PVC, fishing line, and streamer tape. We take 10 foot sections of 2" PVC and drill holes in it about every foot... lay them on the ground at each fence post.... while they're still on the ground, run the string fishing line through the holes, and attach streamer tape... then stand the PVC up at attach to the last 18" of the fence post with a tie strap. You could attach it any way you want, but we just tie strap it on. Deer come up to it, but won't try to go over it, or through it. :-) Also, it's fairly cheap....and can be significantly less trouble than getting caught shooting them. :-)

I don’t understand the focus on root causes, from either side...

If homosexuality is innate, it does not necessarily follow that society must make accommodations for people with that trait. It could be an innate, but harmful trait to be treated, not celebrated, similar to the alcoholism gene.

If it is some sort of choice, it does not necessarily follow that society should not make accommodations for people who make that choice. It could be harmless, and a perfectly valid choice, similar to preferring vanilla to chocolate ice cream.

There are obviously other considerations besides its origin that determine the optimal public policies toward the issue. So, again, why the focus on root causes?

thanks for that post...as we are noting here, the only root cause is mans idolization of everything but Gods Will, and all the rest is simply an attempt to use anothers illness or poor decisions for their own selfish gains...

thanks for that fence idea hh, ive had a bit of luck with plain ole popcans on a rope fence clangin in the breeze, although I would use some venison too, but alas the 'downrange' is very tricky with bigbore stuff, and the only good 'plinkin' site is baby girls bedroom window, from where the coons got whacked in the cantelopes a few yrs back...

ive been thinkin the downhill shot from the very flat garage roof, but traffic could 'see' me sittin there, the longer shot from the backside chimney/roof ridge might work though, but no scope, so i hafta be 'on' my game with open sights for an eyeball shot...

Admin Mods would certainly remove them if I put details here... but it is possible to build a relatively simple system using a 12ga shotgun shell that's tripwire, or operator activated. You don't have to keep the shot in the shells, so they would make a lot of noise and do very little damage. I'll bet you can find details via Google. :-)

Oh...I'm not talking about just shooting them from an open window! I'm talking about getting far, far back into the house! You have to be careful lest you strike the window frame. I shot like this once using a .243 and the resulting blast blew all the magazines off the living room table... pictures off the walls... drapes came down too. CINC HOUSEHOLD was not pleased. :-)

Not to take a swipe at you... :-) But you don't ponder the same sort of crap if somebody is chasing you while shooting at you... do you?

We have something we call the Snake Treatment. The premise is that when we encounter a venomous snake, we don't ponder the snake. We don't wonder why it's there. We don't wonder what it's going to do, or whether it's going to harm us. We don't attempt to relocate it safely. We don't attempt to scare it off. It IS a snake, and it's potentially deadly. We recognize it for what it is. We cut it's head off and move on with our day.

While certain of the intelligentsia continue to analyze things like homosexuality, they'll continue to plague society with increased spread of STDs, high domestic violence rates, an unhealthy appetite for children (NAMBLA), "bug chasing" (you'll just have to google that one), various animal ranches (where it's legal), and too many other ills that aren't fit to mention here... or any other place for that matter. Like the snake, it is what it is and should be treated accordingly. Unlike the snake however, people made and continue to make choices in order to perpetuate it. It makes a profound statement about the default state of man and his inability to make any meaningful stand against evil without the influence/assistance of God.

But the smart guys can go ahead and continue to analyze the disguisting bunch and if they get it all figured out, perhaps they'll let the rest of us know. :-) In the mean time, we'll continue to apply the Snake Treatment...which works pretty well!... at least until we find something better. :-)

Okay, I'm sorry, but I have to post to you again.  That last response to me was untrue, it was unkind, it displayed a lack of moral fiber, was sacreligous, hurtful, unfair to our troops, black and white cats in Kosovo, and the very people who kept this nation safe for the last eight years.  Do you understand now?  I've sent Jim a copy of that post.  I can't believe you are still here saying things like that to me.  And to top it all off, this was all started because you think I was defending someone when I wasn't, and you said I like red and green which I don't.  All I have ever said on the subject, was that I was somewhat open to listening to someone who has voiced support for green and red, but never have I EVER said I liked red and green.  People know me here.  They send me notes.  In fact I hear voices.  They are supportive voices.  None of the voices are critical voices.  And I see what looks like dead people...  holding signs...  that say everyting is okay, and Jim knows, and other FReepers know, and in fact... everyone knows...
