I don’t understand the focus on root causes, from either side...

If homosexuality is innate, it does not necessarily follow that society must make accommodations for people with that trait. It could be an innate, but harmful trait to be treated, not celebrated, similar to the alcoholism gene.

If it is some sort of choice, it does not necessarily follow that society should not make accommodations for people who make that choice. It could be harmless, and a perfectly valid choice, similar to preferring vanilla to chocolate ice cream.

There are obviously other considerations besides its origin that determine the optimal public policies toward the issue. So, again, why the focus on root causes?

thanks for that post...as we are noting here, the only root cause is mans idolization of everything but Gods Will, and all the rest is simply an attempt to use anothers illness or poor decisions for their own selfish gains...

Not to take a swipe at you... :-) But you don't ponder the same sort of crap if somebody is chasing you while shooting at you... do you?

We have something we call the Snake Treatment. The premise is that when we encounter a venomous snake, we don't ponder the snake. We don't wonder why it's there. We don't wonder what it's going to do, or whether it's going to harm us. We don't attempt to relocate it safely. We don't attempt to scare it off. It IS a snake, and it's potentially deadly. We recognize it for what it is. We cut it's head off and move on with our day.

While certain of the intelligentsia continue to analyze things like homosexuality, they'll continue to plague society with increased spread of STDs, high domestic violence rates, an unhealthy appetite for children (NAMBLA), "bug chasing" (you'll just have to google that one), various animal ranches (where it's legal), and too many other ills that aren't fit to mention here... or any other place for that matter. Like the snake, it is what it is and should be treated accordingly. Unlike the snake however, people made and continue to make choices in order to perpetuate it. It makes a profound statement about the default state of man and his inability to make any meaningful stand against evil without the influence/assistance of God.

But the smart guys can go ahead and continue to analyze the disguisting bunch and if they get it all figured out, perhaps they'll let the rest of us know. :-) In the mean time, we'll continue to apply the Snake Treatment...which works pretty well!... at least until we find something better. :-)
