My bet is that there will not be another Russian ship so much as touched in these waters. I think the Russians have made it very clear they will not be paying any ransoms or negotiating with Somali pirates.
I go a bit further - IF there is another Russian ship taken, and the pirates kill their citizens as is threatened by this “spokesman”, the Russians will launch a major reprisal attack into the pirates’ “safehaven” ... if this starts a war with that “nation”, so be it.

There is no nation to fight with. ‘Somalian pirates’ are actually a group of gangs.
They could be hurt badly by police means. I mean by BAD police means, not Mirandizing.
Cutting a few leaders into pieces, bulldozing a few communities giving a shelter to a gangs etc.
A set of standard means Russians successfully used against their muslim pals for centuries.
Gibbs is the white spot underthe parrot on the pirate’s shoulder.
I’m sure tankers hauling 86k tones of crude are over fishing in Somali waters.
Yea, that’s it.
If more pirates were treated this way, piracy on the high seas would not be as prevalent as it is today.
:-) My one GOOD laugh for the day!
It’s not the “new Russia.” Their response to nuisances like this were equally to the point during the Soviet area.
As I recall it was in the 80s that four Russian diplomats were killed in Beirut. Some Spetzburo types paid a visit and shortly thereafter a few Hezbollah guys were missing their heads. That was the last problem they had in that town.
The Russians never released the young men instead they shot them point-blank range then loaded their lifeless bodies back on the boat, he added
YOU SAY THAT LIKE IT IS A BAD THING.
Once upon a time execution is what happened to all pirates captured on the high seas. Anybody ever hear of Kiel Hauling
I love good news in the morning!!
Now when are we going to start dealing with these pirates the way they should be dealt with. (shot on sight)?
“they shot them point-blank range then loaded their lifeless bodies back on the boat,
That’s more like the old Rooskies we all came to know. The only puzzler is why they would deny it? When they were busily slaughtering 1.3 million Afghani’s in the 1980’s, no one really seemed to mind, especially the western media. Why get shy now?
No. Who is he?
maybe .. but I find this part of the article disturbing
“There are reports, Somali pirates still hold 23 foreign ships and 384 sailors in Somalia”
what the ??!!- that is one band of busy pirates.
“We condemn the action of the Russians, its driven by racism and hate for black people and Africa,...”
The Russian’s condemn the actions of the Somali’s who only targeted them because of racism and their hatred of white people.
It’s time to throw this back in every idiots face who pulls the race card.
You don’t understand, the Russians wanted their comrades to see them. Their death was not punishment, it was a message.
I would not be surprised to find out that the bodies had been mutilated in some meaningful way.
There are clearly identified towns these pirates operate and live in. The whole towns will pay the price. Bank on it.
Justice is Justice.
Actually, putting them on a boat with no engine, navigation system or supplies in the middle of the ocean sounds way more scary than simply executing them.
