Sarah Palin has angered fans by endorsing former Hewlett Packard chief Carly Fiorina instead of a more conservative challenger in her bid to become the Republican candidate aiming to unseat California Senator Barbara Boxer.
Palin, a darling of the right-wing, announced on her Facebook page on Thursday that she was backing Fiorina as she attempts to win the Republican ticket for the election in California later this year.
The 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate said she was supporting Fiorina as a "Commonsense Conservative" on the basis of her "fiscal conservatism rooted in real life experience."
"We can trust Carly to do the right thing for America?s economy and to make the principled decisions she has throughout her professional career," Palin wrote in her endorsement.
However Palin's support has enraged supporters of California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who view Fiorina as a RINO -- Republican In Name Only -- an epithet used by right-wingers to disparage pro-business candidates who do not always embrace socially conservative stances.
"Sorry, governor Palin, but Chuck DeVore is California's only conservative candidate for senator," one poster wrote.
"I'm very disappointed in you, Sarah. You should know better!!," another posted added.

That should ensure at least ten more votes for DeVore. Why is it that at DeVore's web site Hunter Sr's endorsement isn't cited?
BTW, Utah dumped RINO Bennett today. GOd BLess the mormons!
For the record, I think Murray has Boxer beat in the low IQ category.
She’s never enraged me, but to the rest of your comments...Right On!!!
Even funnier is Sybil’s endorsement of Fiorina has everyone pretending Carly is the reincarnation of Maggie Thatcher, when she is Charlie Crist in a skirt.
Hmmmmm, now that's an interesting turn of events. Has Duncan Sr. formally endorsed DeVore?
Not once did she tell the jla's of the world, "Hey, I realize I hurt your feelings when I endorsed McCain and yes, you felt I'd abandoned my principles and even betrayed you. I'm sorry, will you please forgive me?".
This woman has fecking grit, and that is what we need in our POTUS.
Boxer wins because she's also butt rude obnoxious and horrid to look at.
You spotted a Leader!
Who compared her to Thatcher? Or are you exaggerating?
Aside: Recall when so many on the Right, including those in his inner-circle at the White House, believed Reagan had went soft on communism, or Gorbachev was playing him like a fiddle, or that RR might be going senile, when Reagan proposed eliminating an entire class of nuclear missiles as well as offering to share SDI with the USSR.
We all now know who was correct, in his assessment of the USSR and in his judgment.
I still can't believe it when I hear that nonsense, esp from Palin supporters who should know better
You think a free traitor who is a billionaire because of the huge bonus she got when she sent a large chunk of California’s economy to China and India, who is a sought after speaker at the global socialist State of the World forums, who was on the short list to head the global socialist World Bank,is a better candidate than Devore?
I notice how you zero in on one particular thing that you think Devore shouldn’t have said that had nothing to do with his policy statements or his loyalty to the US.
But Fiorina publicly insults Americans by claiming communist educated slave-like labor controlled by a communist government is better than any worker America can produce, and that statement alone doesn’t disqualify her as a Republican candidate?
Hmmmm, maybe she’s donated a lot of money to the republican party because she is a billionaire. That could explain all the so-called conservatives coming out of the woodwork to endorse her.
The republican party never met a billionaire they didn’t like, apparently.
Carly Fiorina has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List.
She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty.
She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries.
Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. She is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners.
She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence.
She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer
What are you— her publicist?
You don’t say anything that isn’t printed on her campaign materials.
You clearly haven’t paid attention to the last two decades of California history and politics. But, I’ll hand it to you, you’re good at copying and pasting campaign slogans into political forum blogs.
You know that I think third parties are loony.
If she gets nominated, of course I’ll support her and vote for her.
I am almost embarrested for you.
I worked for Reagan at his Headquarters here in San Diego when he first ran for Gov.
I have met and spoke with him, set up interviews, etc.
I have followed politics for over 50 years.
I am ret. from the legal field.
You are typical of some of the blowhards on FR who don’t have a clue and don’t want one.
Why would you word it that way, Devore polls the weakest in that theoretical match-up.
Here is Fiorina insulting freedom and the American people at the same time. She PREFERS communist educated labor over American educated labor. That does make her a good global socialist candidate for Senate, if you’re a free traitor.

Two leading Silicon Valley chief executives, reacting Wednesday to criticism theyve shipped too many high-tech jobs overseas, defended hiring workers in India and China and warned that the United States and particularly California were in danger of losing their competitive edge to the Far East.
There is no job that is Americas God-given right anymore, said Carly Fiorina, chairman of Palo Alto information technology giant Hewlett Packard.
The comments came as part of the tech industrys counteroffensive against intensifying criticism about the export of high-tech jobs.
Fiorina warned against the growing protectionist backlash, saying the only alternative to losing jobs overseas was to make a national decision to stay ahead of foreign competitors by improving grade-school education, doubling federal spending on basic research and forming a national broadband policy, as Japan and Korea have done.
Its interesting to me that so many people talk about China or India or Russia as being a source of low-cost labor, Fiorina said. Truthfully, over the long term, the greater threat is the source of well-educated labor. And if you look at the number of college-educated students that China graduates every year, its close to 40 million. The law of large numbers is fairly compelling.
