Chuck DeVore on Palin Endorsement of Carly Fiorina (Get the FACTS, you Sybliistas)
UN Coverage ^ | 5/7/10 | Chuck DeVore

Posted on 05/07/2010 10:02:26 PM PDT by pissant

I just finished strong in a one hour debate with Tom Campbell and Carly Fiorina (to be broadcast Sunday morning — we’ll send you the media analysis when it comes in).

But before I went to bed tonight I wanted to take a moment to type out some of my thoughts on the day’s news and provide you with an update on my campaign.

If you didn’t hear, Sarah Palin posted a Facebook message earlier today about the California Republican primary.

She bashed Tom Campbell.

She tried to ignore me.

And she announced her support of Carly Fiorina.

She called Fiorina a “commonsense conservative” and said Fiorina is “the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.”

I like Sarah Palin. I think highly of her. But she got this dead wrong.

Carly Fiornia is NOT a conservative.

And she is certainly NOT the only candidate in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.

Let me address each of those issues with some cold, hard facts.

Is Carly Fiorina a conservative?

* She supported the Wall Street bailouts.

* She supported Cap and Trade.

* She supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer.

* She has criticized the new Arizona immigration law.

* Before she was fired as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she allowed the company to sell technology to Iran.

* And last year when liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans were trying to push through a massive tax increase in a California referendum, Carly Fiorina had “no comment.”

I call her a “John McCain Republican” – she talks the talk from time to time and says she’s a conservative but she has a “never with us when it counts” record just like McCain.

Don’t get me wrong, if a liberal Republican like Tom Campbell or a moderate Republican like Carly Fiorina win the primary instead of me, I will support them against Barbara Boxer.

But there’s no need to make a compromise like that.

This is not a primary election where electability needs to be a factor.

Again, let me offer the cold hard facts.

Here’s the most recent polling numbers from the independent Rasmussen poll.

* Fiorina 38% – Boxer 42%

* DeVore 39% – Boxer 42%

* Campbell 41% – Boxer 43%

The margin of error in the poll was 4.5%.

That means Fiornia is statistically tied with Boxer.

So am I (actually one point better than Fiorina).

And so is Tom Campbell.

There is literally no difference at all in how we are performing against Boxer.

The fact is Boxer has been mired in the mid-to-low 40s for more than a year.

Whether it’s her abrasive politics, her leading role in Cap and Trade, the way California Democrats have run the state into the ground, the way Washington Democrats are running the country into the ground, the “Can you call me Senator?” episode, or something else, the fact is Barbara Boxer is going to have a very difficult time winning re-election this year.

So the choice before the California primary voters isn’t who can beat Boxer…

…it’s which Republican candidate best represents your values.

* Is it Tom Campbell, the “Nelson Rockefeller Republican” who supported the largest tax increase in history at the state level, a 32-cent gas tax increase, and is liberal on social issues? * Is it Carly Fiorina, the “John McCain Republican” who claims she is a conservative but has a never with us when it counts record of support for the bailouts, for cap and trade, and for the confirmation of liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor? * Or is it me, Chuck DeVore, a “Ronald Reagan Republican” who has a proven, conservative record on taxes, on spending, on social issues, and on defense?

I believe it’s vitally important to California and America’s future that we get Barbara Boxer out of the Senate…

…but I also believe it’s just as important we replace her with a true conservative who will faithfully hold strong to the Founding Father’s vision of a limited government

My record is clear.

I have a proven voting record in the California State Assembly that has earned me several “Legislator of the Year” awards from conservative organizations.

I was a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon and I’m a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Reserve.

And I was against the bailouts, against cap and trade, and against the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer. I support the Arizona immigration law. And when California Republican moderates tried to raise taxes I resigned my leadership position in protest.

My record has earned me support from conservatives like:

*** Senator Jim DeMint’s “Senate Conservative Fund” *** Governor Mike Huckabee’s “HuckPAC” *** Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) *** Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) *** Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) *** The Tea Party Express *** Citizens United PAC *** Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC *** And more than 60% of California’s Republican elected officials.

Media commentators Glenn Beck, George Will, Andrew Breitbart, and Mark Levin have all identified me as the true conservative candidate in this race.

I’m not going to lie to you, I would have liked Sarah Palin’s endorsement, too (and I look forward to getting it after I win the primary).

But the support I most need and want is yours.

If you live in California, I need your vote on June 8th.

And no matter where you live, I urgently need your immediate financial support.

Based on the Facebook and Twitter comments, it seems a lot of Sarah’s supporters weren’t very happy about her decision to support Carly.

To those of you who are looking for a strong, tried-and-true conservative who can win in November, I invite you to join my team right now.

I need your help.

Click this link right now to make a donation and help me win this primary. Any amount you can give, even if it’s just $5, will make an immediate difference.

I am the REAL conservative who can win this primary and defeat Barbara Boxer.

But I can’t do it by myself.

I need the help of conservatives like you. And I need it right now.

Join my team today and together we can put this country back on track. It only takes a minute to make a donation. But the impact could last a lifetime.

So please don’t delay. Click this link right now and help me, the “Ronald Reagan Conservative,” win the Republican primary.

All the best,

Chuck DeVore

State Assemblyman (R-CA)

Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Reserve

Palin and Bachmann were electrifying on stage.

I hope Fiorina and Palin campaign together. There is nothing like seeing strong women together rallying thousands of supporters.

Ms. Palin brings out the best in everybody that is around her.

Exactly my thoughts. Sarah Palin has those pesky insider numbers that candidates keep as their Ace in the hole to win against their opponents. I am sure Sarah has obtained these numbers from one of the campaigns. She is looking at the numbers. It's in black and white.

Sorry, but as a realist and a conservative Californian, Carly is the only one who can beat bonehead Boxer. CA Republicans have a knack for offering candidates who can't win. I am sick and tired of not winning. We desperately need a Republican senator. Idiot Californians might just vote for a reasonably intelligent women over a female imbecile like Boxer.

We need to give the feelers a female. I live amongst these dopes--and as much as I might like DeVore, he is strickly a So. Cal. candidate and can't win state wide. Truth sucks.

Me, too. It has me “re-thinking” my hopes for Palin. Too, bad. It seemed to me a gun owner from Alaska might be “just what we need” but if she is going to “be a Republican” then we just have to look elsewhere.

But I am going to vote for Chuck DeVore, just because the primaries are the time that we can make our mark on the whole electoral process. If it comes down to Fiorina v. Boxer, I will vote Fiorina. ABB! But having DeVore would be a much better prospect.

What if DeVore knocks Fiorina out of the nomination and you have a choice between Campbell and Boxer. People are not seeing the facts. This is a three way race and neither of the two being discussed (as the choices) is the front runner.

Palin looked at the situation and decided DeVore is acting as a spoiler now and doesn't have a serious hope of winning the nomination, so better to have Carly or else you get Campbell.

Wake up.

Don't even wake up now.. wait a week and see if DeVore can push into 20% of the Republicans. If he can, perhaps he can defeat Campbell, but if not.. it is time to get serious about getting a conservative that can win in this position rather than a Lib-RINO like Campbell.

Don’t make bogus ethics charges like the dems do to Palin. Chuck is mostly a one man band. He is probably CA’s most ethical politician. Unlike the libs, his employees like him. They volunteer their efforts in addition to performing their state duties. No state money is being used in his campaign.

There is reality and there is wishes. The man is under investigation because normally this sort of situation shows that the politician is relying on government paid workers. This is called the appearance of impropriety. But worse, it shows that DeVore isn't ready or able to put on a serious California statewide race for Senate. He doesn't have a staff. Duh.

I have come into contact with a number of politicians and their staffs over the years and Congressional staff members are scrupulous about not ever ever ever discussing politics on "company time." This is because the consequences are horrendous. The will work on the campaigns of their Pol.. but never in a lead role, just phone banking and envelope stuffing and such.. but even this is bounded.

DeVore has set himself up for losing as this scandal grows to engulf his campaign, and if he were to win the Primary it wouldn't be resolved by the election, you can bet on that.. so Boxer would pound him to death with it saying how can you elect him with charges pending.

DeVore is toast. Time for him to go.

Well, I don’t donate “BIG” but a donation was sent to Chuck. Palin is dead wrong on this one as the article states. But something else came out of the article that struck me as interesting ... “McCain Republican”. Huh, now that sort of starts to explain some things. Sarah has really hurt herself with this one ... she’s stepped in it big time. I’m a big Palin fan, but now I’ve got a doubt I just can’t get rid of easily.

The only smart one in this is Sarah Palin… as usual. She does not kiss anyone’s ass… not even the Tea Party.Either you support her or you don’t…

I don't.

“Someone didn’t like their boss? Didn’t like the way they ran things?”

Nobody liked the boss, including the millions of stockholders and the board of directors fired her... Does that put it in perspective for you?

Ahhhhh....the infamous “you’re a newbie whipper-snapper on FR” mantra. Brilliant!!!! NOT.

My call is this....

Taken seriously by who? People so stuck up on Devore they act like thin-skinned drones? You folks have such a split-personality: as long as Palin goes your way she’s a saint, but once she “strays off your tea-party reservation” she’s a globalist-corporate-sellout beeoch. Just like when Palin endorsed Rand Paul, suddenly she was “just another politico”.

BUCK UP DeVore drones. And yes, it’s idiotic to go burning bridges, acting like a spoiled, sacrosant malcontents. You’re just pissed because he’s been called out on this childish behavior.

Now Chucky acts like a 5 year old brat who didn’t get his GI Joe action figure. The kiss of death was when he started whining on Hardball.

IMHO, Sarah stumbled here. I don’t live in CA and know little about DeVore, just what I’ve read lately.

But I’ve watched Carly damage Lucent and HP. She seems to be an example of the Peter Principle. I don’t want her in my government.

Gov. Palin has not hurt herself on anything. Get real.

The only ones mouthing off are the five people that support Devore.

Palin can endorse anybody she wants and if you don’t like it you don’t like it.

Mitt is waiting and have fun.

WRONG! THERE WAS NO VIABLE PRO-LIFE CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR IN CALIFORNIA. So, whether you like it or not, it is exactly the same thing. They both chose to support the most conservative candidate who could actually WIN - and they both happen to be friends with those candidates (Palin newly befriended Fiorina while Romney has been friends with Whitman for ovr 25 years).

Mr. DeVore, I remember Ronald Reagan. I remember how Ronald Reagan did politics. I remember how Ronald Reagan conducted himself, and expected his staff to conduct themselves. And believe me, Mr. DeVore, you’re no Ronald Reagan.

Went to a SD Republican dinner last night. Some of those attending who spoke were: Duncan D. Hunter, Darrell Issa, Gunny Pop' and Roger Hedgecock.

They are not supporting DeVore. These are some of the influential Repubs in CA and they see that Fiorina is the chance to take out Boxer!

DeVore would have gone farther w/ fans had he not reacted like a child to Palin's endorsement. I was going to vote DeVore in the primary but he acts so immature.
