Sen. Jim DeMint Endorses Rand Paul for Senate (DeMint making a habit of endorsing RINOs?)

United States Senator and conservative icon Jim DeMint has endorsed Rand Paul for United States Senate from Kentucky. Sen. DeMint announced his endorsement this morning through his Senate Conservatives Fund, a political action group dedicated to bringing “bold conservative leadership to Washington by supporting only the most principled candidates nationwide who believe in the timeless conservative principles of limited government, strong national defense, and traditional family values.”

Said Senator DeMint, “I'm endorsing Rand Paul because he's a true conservative who will stand up to the Washington establishment. Rand has been running on the issues that matter since the beginning of this campaign. He's a strong advocate for balanced budgets, he wants to end the culture of earmarks, he supports term limits, and he's 100% pro-life.

“Rand is exactly the kind of leader Americans are looking for right now.

He's not a career politician and he's got the guts to stand up to the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are being forced on us in Washington.

“We're trying to lead our party back to the principles that made our country great," continued Senator DeMint, “and back to where the majority of Americans want us to be. Americans are looking for leaders who will honor their oath of office by fighting to 'protect and defend' the Constitution. They're looking for leaders like Rand Paul in Kentucky, and I'm proud to endorse him."

Said campaign manger David Adams, “Our campaign is truly honored to receive the endorsement of Senator Jim DeMint. Our Kentucky Values are under fire from career politicians in Washington, but Senator DeMint is one of the bold exceptions who stands up to big government and works to defend our freedom. In Washington, Rand Paul will stand with other conservatives like Jim DeMint to fight for balanced budgets, term limits and an end to earmarks and pork-barrel sending."

Jim DeMint joins a long list of distinguished conservatives who have endorsed Rand Paul including Sarah Palin, Dick Armey, Dr. James Dobson, Steve Forbes, Concerned Women for America, Gun Owners of America and Northern Kentucky Right to Life.

Oh, great!

Now Jim DeMint is making a HABIT of supporting RINOS just like Sarah Palin. I guess he's off the list now, too.

First Romney, now Paul.......Geez, DeMint!

It's going to be fun watching the “I hate Sarah Palin/Jim DeMint for President” crowd hide after they lampooned Palin for endorsing Rand Paul.

I haven’t followed this race very closely, but I’ve gathered that Grayson is a bigger RINO than Paul.

Rand Paul is like a founding father. Sorry if you do not like that. That is about as conservative as you can get.

Just for the record look at what the founding fathers believed in, look at Paul, and look at the other candidates.

Being a Republican is not what it use to be under Reagan.

How exactly is Rand Paul a RINO? I’ve heard him speak a few times and he sounds far more small government and sane on issues than many in the GOP establishment.

He was against the Patriot Act, which if true conservatives look back at that and the creation of Homeland Security, I think being against them wasthe real conservative position. The expansion of federal power was a massive misdeed by Bush.

Paul as I understand it was for the Afghanistan intervention but against the Iraq War. You don’t have to be pro every war to be conservative. I never had a problem with those against the idea of going to war, only how they handled themselves after the fact and according to what their REASONS were. Rand Paul’s reasons are perfectly sane, as opposed to some of the idiotic reasoning for the far left.

He is against the Dept of Education, the Federal Reserve and massive federal spending and is Pro Life. His opponent is part of the political machine.

Don’t see the problem honestly. Establishment politicians should be voted out where feasible.

You folks are missing the entire point here.

I SUPPORT RAND PAUL.

I am making a greater point about Sarah-bashers. Read more carefully, please.

Don’t go into journalism. Your point is entirely invisible without the 3d glasses. And, its not much of a point anyway. Are you saying that Palin was criticized for endorsing Rand Paul?

I think maybe that you have jumped to a conclusion that you did not research. That’s okay, but don’t compound the problem by continuing to push the obvious.

Rand Paul is the best choice here - and a Conservative.

Simple....People bashed Palin for endorsing Rand Paul and some were thinking of Jim DeMint as an alternative. I’m confused on this particular race as it is. James Dobson recently recind his endorsement of Trey Grayson and now back Paul. It makes you wonder how some are going for Rand when they can’t support Ron. Its a mess. Make me all confused.

Are you saying that Palin was criticized for endorsing Rand Paul?

Very much so, she really took a beating over it.

As compared to who? Who would have been the better Conservative to support in that race?
