Times Square Block Shut Down
By SEAN GARDINER and R.M. SCHNEIDERMAN
NYPD closed off streets from 42nd to 47th along Broadway in New York City. Police shut down a block in the heart of Times Square Saturday night after receiving a call about a suspicious car fire, delaying some Broadway shows by more than an hour.
The call came in just after 6:30 and as of 9 p.m., 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues had not been opened. When police initially responded, they saw smoke coming out of the car but no fire.
Dustin Drankoski for the Wall Street Journal NYPD closed off streets from 42nd to 47th along Broadway in New York City. Police said a bomb squad investigation was on the scene and that the car on fire was a sport utility vehicle had license plates that didn't match the make of the car, raising suspicions.
On one of the theater district's busiest nights, some shows, including "The Lion King," were delayed by an hour or more, according to the Broadway World website.
Oprah Winfrey was in attendance of the new hit "Fela," being shown at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on West 49th Street, and the production began on time and wasn't interrupted.

America is not at WAR!
At least as far as the current admin is concerned.
What I’ve feared for a long time is coming to pass .. it’s going to take a major - worse than 9/11 event to really wake America up.
There could be more....
Just tuned them in, thanks.
What a sad day when we have to turn to PMSnbc for news.
radio report said the pattern of a bomb going off and then 1st responders coming and possibly a 2nd bomb then set off

Police find two car bombs in central London
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL2919779720070629
Police found two car bombs packed with gasoline, propane and nails in London’s teeming theater district on Friday, averting attacks that echoed an earlier al Qaeda plot and could have killed or maimed scores of people.
Officers defused the first bomb, found in a green Mercedes parked outside one of London’s biggest nightclubs, the cavernous Tiger Tiger, at around 1 a.m. (8 p.m. EDT), when hundreds were packed inside for “Sugar ‘n Spice Ladies Night”.

3 propane tanks, gasoline, black powder and a time device found inside SUV in Times Square -— NBC reporting.
I wonder if nails and other types of shrapnel were found also? That could be the reason the evacuation perimeter has been expanded.

Exactly! I would have had no idea this was even going on if it wasn’t for FR..but then I was switching around the stations, Fox News isn’t covering it, neither is CNN, but MSDNC is, now THAT is sad..I actually tuned in just to see what was happening..I think that makes 12 viewers now to the network
I can’t figure it out - a major attempted terrorist attack in NYC and a big yawn of disinterest from the media. Just a banner of fox web site with a link to the story about the van in time square a few weeks ago that turned out to be nothing.
I wonder if the device had worked if they would be reporting on it?
P.S. I live in NYC.
The detonator apparrently failed to set off the gasoline tanks. Muslim seen running from the SUV after parking it.<<<
Thanks to Jimbo for staying on this story, this is the latest thread.

Sad, indeed and they’re doing a decent job of covering the event.
NBC is doing a good job locally here in NYC. They appear to understand the gravity of the situation.
What’s weird is that it did not go off. My guess, either it is NOT supposed to go off now or it malfunctioned
