Glenn Beck's Ratings Collapse

Gillian Reagan
Apr. 29, 2010, 4:15 PM

Is Glenn losing his edge? Maybe not.

Fox News' Glenn Beck might be a one-man $32 million media empire (books, radio shows, tours and more!) but what's going on with his marquee Fox News show?

The Los Angeles Times' Joe Flint reports that News Corp.-owned Fox News cable news ratings are still high above the competition. But Glenn Beck's total number of viewers are down by almost 30%, from 2.9 million in January to 2.1 million in April.

Glenn might not be the rising ratings juggernaut month to month, like he has always been. But he's still a powerhouse in the 5 p.m. timeslot. As Joe writes, "the decline in his audience has hardly made a dent on the lead he enjoys for his 5 p.m. festival of emotions. His rivals should hold off a little on popping the Champagne."

[snip]

Here's how the other cable news personalities are doing, year over year, in April:

April 09- April 2010 in the 25-54 demo:

* Fox News' Bill O’Reilly– down 3%

* MSNCB's Rachel Maddow – down 8%

* Fox News' Greta Van Sustren – down 13%

* Fox News' Sean Hannity – down 17%

* MSNBC's Chris Matthews – down 23%

* MSNBC's Headline News – down 26%

* MSNBC's Keith Olbermann – down 28%

* CNN's Wolf Blitzer – down 37%

* CNN's Campbell Brown – down 39%

* CNN's Anderson Cooper – down 41%

* CNN's Larry King – down 46%

“I think people feel they need a break from the intensity of everything that’s going on.”

Not to be a jerk, but...

That is why we lose in the battles that were fought and those coming at us.

“Though I wish he would take down another czar.”

His radio show is a commercial for his t.v. show and I really get and have been sick of some of the things that he over dramatizes. But now is when you should be watching. Go look up this week’s shows.

He’s doing more than taking down czar’s. He’s taking down the whole entire cap and tax scheme, Goldman Sachs, Obama, Soros, Fanny & Freddy, the CCX, SEIU, AFL-CIO, ACorn, the New Party, Joel Rogers and at the helm of what he calls ‘Crime INC.’ our favoirte leader Hussein Obama.

I took a break too.

His religion and dramatic slobbering got to me.

Thing is his connecting dots is far too important now to miss.

I don’t have cable, ya know starve the monkey, but I do watch the shows on the internet. It’s scary. We are on the road to Sodom and it’s definitely go time. Either we win or lose. No time to be tired or annoyed. They expect that from us.

Dude, I’m with you, but now it’s time for you to man up and see what he is saying. I’m not a big fan either but Monday and Thursday’s shows blew my mind. It got me back in the game. It’s endtimes for this nation if what we have in the White House and Congress continues. He’s outing more than czars now.

Yes, that’s my impression. Flaky but brilliant. But you need a dose of wisdom and common sense, too, and I’m not sure he’s equipped with those.

Also, he’s a Mormon. Nothing wrong with that in itself—most Mormons are on the right side politically. But it seems to have given him a soft spot for Mitt Romney, and that could be unfortunate, because it gives Mitt another false claim to be “conservative.”

“Throwing in the towel on it all is tempting. Some days you just want peace, your garden and quiet.

I hate what those bastards are doing to this country. I have never felt this strong about any political issue or group gefore. I hate them with a burning hate and that is hard to sustain.”

Why do you think they jumped on the absolute hardest thing to try to pass? Why do you think they soldiered on? They knew the outcome and knew that they would ignore our cries, but also knew it would tire and dismay us. That was their plan all along. Now they expect you to go to your garden so that in upcoming years the brownshirts can come tell you to grow more foods there to dispense to those in your community that need it because you have more than your fair share of ‘garden’. Whatever it takes, stay in the game. I watched the last week of Beck and am back 100%. I could listen to RUSH 24/7 and after I get out of my car I’m back to doing my daily stuff.

Watch the last week of his shows.

Remember the media’s disgust with Halliburton and Cheney?

This dwarfs that in such a way it’s like comparing pop tarts to Colby steak. It’s so huge monetarily that trillions doesn’t cover it. And it’s all out of our pockets into the pockets of criminals and politicians.

Naive thought: it’s springtime...folks are getting outside more than
in January and sometimes miss Beck’s show.

Honestly, I do get a bit worn down when Beck and Co. expose even more
Bravo Sierra that Obama/Holder/Soros are perpetrating on the USA
(and the world, for that matter).

But I do give Beck and Co. credit for the recent expose on The Joyce
Foundation and the Chicago Carbon Exchange.

With some of the stuff Beck has exposed, I’m suprised he’s not yet
been knee-capped by some SEIU type.

>He’s horrible. No content. Just crap. His radio show is even worse. Constant laughing and chattering with his producer.<

Did anyone else talk about H.R. 2499 yesterday? No and that’s why 60 republicans stupidly voted YES. Puerto Rico will coming sliding in demanding seating in the Congress as a result and the Democrats will have another four million votes on their side of the election.

If that’s just crap then your view is pure unblemished sh!t.

20 min per hour is pretty standard for both radio and TV.

I think the problem with Beck’s commercials on TV is that they are all for gold and are amature-ish and boring. So they seem longer and more frequent.

I agree. Even battle weary soldiers need R&R every once in a while to recharge and recoup.

His TV shows are first class when he exposes the Marxists who are in the process of taking over our county and their networks as he has done this week.

Not in the middle of a huge firefight though. It should only take about 3-4 seconds with any AR or AK. :) I understand but get back in now, it’s actually worth it having to deal with his theatre (which wasn’t bad at all this week).

I hear him... I just hate his delivery.
Guess it’s best I just read the transcripts of the shows.

If anyone wants to stand in Beck’s shoes and take on the criminal politicians in DC and the present Administration, along with its shadow czars and owners, I’m sure he would like the help there on point. Who has his back now? 11 refounders, his viewers, Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes and his small crew of employees? Against Soros, the AGW freaks, Goldman, the Apollo Alliance, SEIU/AFL_CIO/ACORN, etc., etc.......

He’s not always right, a lot more glum, sometimes unfocused, admittedly scared for his and his family’s lives (increased security twice). Here’s a rock — over there’s a glass house. Have at it.

Best parody of him was when Rush had a buzzer that would randomly go off during his show...then Rush would switch to talking about how the Republicans suck.....

Beck should do a counter-parody. Have a random buzzer go off, and then start talking about golf and cigars!

personally... I’m sick of his whining and when he starts crying, forget it. Man up! sissy boy!

Maybe if he wore grownup clothing, he would act more like a man. Instead he wears dirty jeans and keds -- a 12-year-old boy's clothing! I did see him ONCE in his big boy pants & big boy shoes. "Clothing makes the man."
