Palin endorses (Tom) Emmer (MN GOV RACE)

On Thursday, the day before Minnesota Republicans are slated to vote on their choice for governor, Tom Emmer won powerful backing from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, one of the party's biggest stars.

Palin said Emmer, a leading candidate for governor, is a straight talking, patriotic hockey dad.

"A family man who wants to leave his kids a better future, a 'hockey dad' who once played for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks, a patriotic commonsense conservative who wishes to serve for the right reasons – that’s Tom Emmer, and I ask you to join me in supporting him for governor of Minnesota," Palin said in a Facebook message Thursday afternoon.

“It's a significant endorsement," Emmer said. "Sarah Palin is the gold standard of grass roots politics in this country."

While outside endorsements aren't always game changers, Emmer said Palin's nod lends a significant boost to the campaign.

There will be 2,100 delegates at the convention tomorrow, and there will be 2,100 fans of Palin, he said.

State GOP convention is tomorrow.

Strange timing to bring up a 19-year old incident where nobody was hurt, and he has kept on the straight and narrow since then.

Cheers!

SaraJ., I think you need to consider if it was a fair tactic to blast this guy on the eve of a state convention, with information that is nearly twenty years old.

Frankly, that exemplifies a lack of character that would cause me not to be able to vote for the person who released the information like this.

I’m not a Sarah Palin die hard, so I’m not saying this to carry water for her. I just don’t like gotcha politics.

You are right in what you said.

In some ways it might be better to unload the secrets now before he gets power so no one can politically blackmail him after he gets power. Nothing more dangerous to the US than polticians with skeletons in the closet. An old DUI problem should not preclude him from serving if that is all he has in his closet.
