Party has halted three attempts to start debate on Democrats bill
WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans are prepared to end their stalling tactics on new banking regulations and will attempt to change the bill on the Senate floor, Republican officials said.

This bears repeating. There is no proof that Shelby has actually said this. Another poster on a similar thread has actually called Shelby’s office and discovered that the Senator apparently has not made any such announcement.
IOW it was a sham from day one.
Thank you. lol. Im so mad I actually found it myself. (which believe me is a miracle in of itself) lol.
I called and she says that news releases are incorrect he is still standing strong. I just heard it on ABC radio. Im confused. Anyone else hear something different.
That doesn’t mean he hasn’t agreed to end the filibuster.
It just means he hasn’t announced it.
I don’t trust him at all.

That’s what I heard on the radio too. I call BS on this.
Glad you found it. google is my friend. :D
I don’t know what to think. I’m inclined to believe he’s caved. Just like the RINO’s always do. Not a one of them has the courage of their convictions.
Let the games begin!
According to those who have called his office, his staffers report that “Senator Shelby is standing strong” against this crapola. FWIW.
Fox just quoted shelby... shelby stated that they hoped to change it from the floor... shelby is lying.

We’ll see. I hope the news releases are wrong.
Alright, I have stood up for things I don’t necessarily like them doing because it makes sense politically, but I can’t this time.
Yeah, this likely is one issue they are getting bad poll numbers on because of Obama’s pummeling.
But, the right thing to do is to stop this. We all know changing it on the floor isn’t going to happen. It will sail right through.
Unless you were born yesterday or something, you know they have the votes.
Well, we can bug the crap out of his offices and let them know that continuned strength shall be rewarded whilst cowardice shall be punished.
I only had to read the “MSNBC” before consigning this to the nearest sh**can.
Anybody tempted to go playing “Let’s make a deal” with the ‘rats in the current regime should first resign and GTH out of town. They sure aren’t representing anything I swore to protect and defend.
From TPM:
In a statement just released, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) says that his negotiations with Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) have hit an impasse and “will not produce additional results.” He said Dodd assured him that steps will be taken to ensure the end of bailouts — but he deferred the decision of whether to bring the bill to the floor to leadership.
“While these changes are significant and meaningful, they are not sufficient to garner my support for moving this bill to the Senate floor. Now that my negotiations with Chairman Dodd have reached an impasse, I thank my Republican colleagues for their support and defer to their individual judgments on whether the Senate begins a floor debate on this bill.”
Followed by:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell just released a statement confirming that Republicans will allow financial reform legislation onto the floor:
“Now that those bipartisan negotiations have ended, it is my hope that the majority’s avowed interest in improving this legislation on the Senate floor is genuine and the partisan gamesmanship is over.”
I think it’s time the Republicans started to feel a little Tea Party town hall anger
Staffers don’t know jack. It isn’t like the senator calls them personally.
So its McConnell?
