BuzzFacebookStumbleUponGALVESTON — A group devoted to saving endangered sea turtles Monday asked state and federal officials to halt all shrimp trawling on the upper Texas Gulf Coast because a large number of dead Kemp's ridley turtles washed ashore this month.
Carol Allen, the Sea Turtle Restoration Project's Gulf Coast director, told the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that shrimp trawlers were responsible for the deaths of more than 20 Kemp's ridley turtles on the upper Texas Gulf Coast over 11 days, ending on Thursday.
Allen said that four or five dead Kemp's ridley's were discovered on beaches Saturday, but Donna Shaver, Texas coordinator for the Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network said that so far no weekend turtle deaths had been reported.
“The best way to stop this is to stop the shrimping,” Allen said.
The Southern Shrimp Alliance said there was no evidence to show that the turtle deaths were caused by shrimp trawlers.
“Activists are using the information to vilify the shrimp industry without documentation,” Alliance spokeswoman Deborah Long said.

I believe the word “end” would be a better fit than “halt”. The turtles are not advocating anything. The radical enviros are advocating an end to shrimping on the upper Texas Coast because a few Ridley sea turtles were possibly killed by Shrimpers.

While I like sea turtles, I don't worship the damned things- like some folks in my area do.
We actually have a ( taxpayer financed, naturally ) "Turtle Center" at the state park here.
Maybe I'm just being "judgmental," but so far every car I've seen with a sea turtle sticker seems to be a moonbatmobile with "Coexist" or "Peace is Patriotic" or other left-wing gibberish as well.
My suggestion to cure the C02 problem in our atmosphere is to stop breathing. Another one...to cure the vast amount of killings in the US is to ban gun ownership by law abiding citizens totally.

What the world needs is a halt to advocacy. Advocates are girls who learned that they can make a difference simply by opposing what ever it is they are told to oppose. They are given a soundbite devoid of truth and they passionately spew it forth.
It gives meaning to their empty lives and makes them seem caring about something. They care only about themselves and their image. Give them all government-paid-for boob jobs and let them stay home and look in the mirror.
