Unlike the federal government, which has the power to steal money from you to pay for programs and policies that you don't support, Free Republic relies on the voluntary donations from it's members.
While there is already a large number of FReepers and lurkers who donate on a regular basis, either monthly, quarterly or a generous yearly donation, it's not enough to cover FR's operating expenses. There are also FReepers who would like to donate, but just don't have the resources because they are temporarily unemployed, living on a fixed income, have on-going medical expenses or other family obligations.
I will make a $25.00 donation on behalf of another FReeper who would like to give, but just can't right now. Are there any other FReepers out there who are willing to give just a little more? I'm asking you to step forward and commit to sending a small donation, $5, $10, $20 or more, in the name a fellow FReeper who doesn't have the funds right now.
What you can do:
If you have a few extra dollars, post your pledge here or put "Adopt a FReeper" in the comment box on donations page.If you're a FReeper who would like to donate, but money is tight, please post here to let us know. You can also FReepmail me and I will try to match you with another FReeper who has indicated they are willing to send in a few extra dollars.
No FRiend. I’m not adopting anyone. I’m just contributing. But you shamed me.
Thank you, FRiend!
Thank you for what you do!
Meh....look at me.....1,227 threads and I remain clueless...
Good morning! Thank you for what you do, too! :)
God bless you both. I confess I took some free rides when times were good for the country.
I have another long time FReeper, who wishes to remain anonymous, who would like to be adopted.
Is there anyone who would like to sponsor a long time FRiend of FR?
Good morning, ButThreeLeftsDo!

I LOVE running around houses! It keeps me in shape! Kinda. Though my tail often gets in my way...
I hear you. I’ve done the same. Imho, this may be the most important time in FR’s history to make a contribution, and you stepped up. For that you have my heartfelt gratitude.
Hi Jellybean - I donated about an hour ago and put “adopt a freeper” in the comment box. Don’t know if my donation has been matched up yet. Thank you!
I’d rather be chewed out. Does that make sense? Outta’ here. FRegards ....
FR got the bump instead this week...
thread and, more importantly, tagline bump...
Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by!
Nope! It's not too late. There are many more generous FReepers who will step up. They just haven't heard about this great opportunity yet!
I used to be a monthly donor but I lost my job in January 09 and still havent found work.
See Cindy's post #111.
OK, one more post. Jesus said that tithing is a manmade law. So NO Christian should have a solitary problem with that scripturally speaking. And as Americans, we have the right to free exercize of religion.
Regarding the scriptures ...
Honor thy mother and father. That’s the Word. Corban was elevating man made laws above the Word. Jesus nailed the Phrisees with that. Do any good work in the name of God, and you are sacrificing in His name.
I appreciate the fact that many churches do good things with tithes. Wonderful. God BLESS them. But it’s the sacrifice, not the church, that matters most.
Here are examples of what I mean:
Bible Life Ministries - Tithing is Not a New Testament Doctrine.
Bible Life Ministries presents the correct interpretation of God’s election and man’s free will in salvation. The 5-points of Calvinism are refuted ...

What is the Bible position on tithing
You are saying your money is “Corban” and Jesus taught that by doing so you ..... THAT is Bible based. Tithing is not. No matter what some may say about ...
