Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon says seniors, kids and out-of-staters should be wary of the Arizona immigration bill signed into law this past week -- warning that it puts them at risk of being arrested.

The law makes illegal immigration a state crime. It gives police the authority to question people about their immigration status and arrest those who cannot show documentation to establish their legal residency.

Papers... your papers please...

That's the inevitable end result of allowing Liberals to determine public policy.

Can readers presume, you do not live near the US border?

So you say yes and quote a date, maybe even quote an SSN, what does that prove?

can be run through the data base in a blink - same as if you get stopped for a ticket - the cop runs your info through a data base...

if you're legit - you should be there

I can't think of anyone I know or anyone in all the generations of my family, that don't carry ID - and In AZ, if they don't, it's a simple matter to get it and carry it.

The arguments against this law are baseless...especially stacked up against the benefits.

Obama will undoubtedly do everything he can to stop this - already got his gang working on it...but it's bringing attention to his total lack of attention to this problem.

Not that I expect this will make him step up to the plate. That would mean a tacit admission of failure...and narcissists never admit failure - even to themselves.

That is a real fly in the ointment that gets in the way of things being reasoned out.

Uh, people without identification (driver's license perhaps), can't answer simple questions two times the same ("what's your address") ~ then they get asked the big question ~ WHUR YOU FROM?

Doesn't scare me at all.

If someone might be an American in the future, but has no business being in America now, and gets caught, what does that mean?

BUT, if Conservativism is talking about people who “will turn out to be” citizens after having been hassled by Arizona — then we’re on the same page. BUT, I suspect the outcry will make it a self correcting problem in that case.

Just because you say “straw man” doesn’t make it so.

When’s the last time anyone was arrested because their state didn’t issue the right type of ID?

Phoenix Mayor had been up for recall - his opponent ran on shutting down the sanctuary policy. We couldn’t muster the votes. He is an a...... and needs to find another career - maybe he could work for Sharpton whom he invites to come down to AZ and stir things up.

Judge Napolitano stated its gonna cost this state a lot of money it doesn’t have.

Terry Goddard is our Dem State AG he didn’t defend the HC lawsuit; do you think he’s gonna defend this one while running for Gov against Brewer?

Already there are five cities in the county of maricopa who are considering of contracting with private jails instead of Maricopa Co (Joe Arpaio) cuz our County Sheriff doesn’t staff the transportation detail from cities he has contracts with to his county jail.

No, not exactly both, but if you don’t have a valid drivers’ license and you cannot provide any other ID, you are in trouble. It should have been the same prior to the new immigration law. What good does it do to give someone a traffic ticket if they don’t have a driver’s license? You have no expectation of them paying the fine or showing up in court. Where are they supposed to send the ticket if you don’t have even a valid ID?

It will be the same for any other violation of the law, drunk and disorderly, spousal abuse, shop lifting, car theft. Do the crime and if your illegal, you will be ousted. The only kids that will be arrested will probably be youthful offenders.
