States Rights went out with the Civil War. We arent e Free nation any more. Havn’t been for a while now.

This is what the Civil War was all about, States Rights.

Like Obama said “they won”.

I guess you're right. All is lost. Better keep hiding under that rock.

Here’s the plan;

Anybody requesting obama free health care -send them to the closest federal office building. Tell them to ask the feds for a ‘free’ health care card.

Then let them find a doctor who will take it.

You are wrong...

The Civil War was about human rights! Not states rights.

Those who owned slaves in the south simply hid behind the states rights issue as legal justification for violating human rights.

“Like Obama said “they won”.”

Ah, excuse me, you’re in our way. Could you move over please and let the rest of us through? You’re blocking our view of a free republic.

Wrong on all counts. And being wrong can really screw you up, friend. The States are not mere subdivisions of the Federal Government. The Civil War was fought to preserve the Union of the Independent States. Certainly, not to subordinate them as vassals of the Federals. There’s a big difference.

No, the US Civil War was not all about State’s Rights.

States Rights, cotton tariffs and free trade overseas were all major issues behind cessation by the initial states to do so. It was not the major issue.

The MAIN issue that caused cessation was whether the spread of slavery to all of the states would be allowed and the diminishing political power of the south to be tyrannized by the north. Slavery was the major issue. That is why the book “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” outsold every book in the USA up to that time, except for the Bible.

There were several reasons why the southern states got fed up with their declining political power and the increasing loss of autonomous control to the much more populous northern states, but the biggest reason for the Civil War was the issue of slavery.

It took me a long time and lots of reading to finally reach that conclusion after thinking for a decade or two that States Rights and cotton tariffs were the biggest issues.

Unlike 1860, the tyranny-loving states want to get rid of the us as much as we want to get rid of them. They will not want to shed their blood and wealth to "preserve the union." Here is a map popularized by liberals after the John Kerry defeat of 2004:

Liberals will accept states rights if they see it as a way to get rid of those pesky right-wingers that are always preventing them from achieving a socialist Utopia.
