That tweren’t nutin’. Why I remember when the tide was out we could take a dune buggy and make it from the Baja to Hawaii just before it came back in. We would scoop up the marlin for snack on the way by....
And if all this ice has melted as they claim, where did the water go? The rate of sea level rise has been essentially constant for hundreds of years. The sea has been steadily rising since the last glacial period about 13,000 years ago...
It is this moronic "science" that gives science a bad name.
The loss of a few feet of ice off of land masses (partially offset by the presence of liquid water instead) is influencing the motion of miles thick plates of stone?

What a bunch of putrid ignorance. The earth’s crust does not consist of only the land area, it includes what’s underneath the oceans! Not only that, but there hasn’t been any sea rise!!
This is kind of like expecting Guam to capsize if enough people stand near the coast.

What!!?? You mean these places weren’t covered with mile thick ice the last ice age?
(I can’t believe I had to read through the whole article to get to the guy’s point. It read like a sixth-grade paper where extra credit is given for using descriptive words.)
HOWEVER. There are “earthquakes” (small) in Canada due to the rebounding of the rock. Plus, it really screwed with folks before they figured it out in the northern regions. They thought for sure the water level of the oceans was going down based on the tide gauges (sp?) - but it was/is really the ground rising.
Well, just like every good fairy tale (or monster story) - there is some truth behind the story.
I know - that is just stupid. Obviously if everyone stood on the coast their weight would be equally distributed around the geographical center of the island and it wouldn't tip over.
Even if they all congregated on the same beach... good grief.
Unless that beach was at the opposite end of a mountain of equal mass. ;) (Or the grave of Ted Kennedy perhaps)
Hey - I was just thinking. Ya know how the earth tilts on its axis? I bet that is because of all those folks in China and India all on the other side.
And of course Antartica is “down” because of all the extra ice down there.
Kind of got off topic, but not really. What with the start of it being the loss of ice causing the volcano, this all makes as much sense. (Except - the volcano was under the ice.)
Well, at least now I know why I’m always hearing about how important the “ecological balance” is.
When I was a kid, we didn't even have water. My dad had to slam hydrogen and oxygen molecules together so mom could do the wash.
Not only that, but the land rises and falls, in response to the incoming and outgoing tide.
You can measure sea level at the shoreline, any place you would like, and it doesn't mean squat.
With all the rising and falling going on at the beaches, you would think they would have the most earthquakes.
The biggest contributor to earthquakes is that the Earth is growing.
Only way to get the icecaps to melt and cause a significant change in ocean levels is to flip the Earth on it's axis so that the polar icecaps are on the equator and we are at one of the poles. (which is how we got miles deep glaciers covering the North American continent to begin with).
Anybody got a surefire way to flip the planet, let me know.
There you go being logical again. Don’t you know logic and science have nothing to do with it? It has to feel right, and support the hypothesis that people are bad for the planet to be a legitimate “scientific” fact!
