White House aides are scoffing at a move in the Arizona legislature to force President Obama to show his birth certificate to get on the state's ballot in 2012 for his likely re-election battle.

Every presidential election is actually 51 elections held at the state level, to determine electors who will assemble and vote for presidential and vice presidential candidates.
Nope... There are no “Federal Elections”. It states specifically in the Constitution that states shall determine who will act as qualified ELECTORS and the process of such. The Federal Gov’t is not allowed to interfere with state elections, and ALL elections are at the state level.
This is why every state’s laws regarding elections varies so widely.
Now that's funny... Good one!
So, I guess if no hospital produces it, he's screwed, eh?

The next GOP candidate for Prez needs to pull their birth certificate from their pocket and wave it around for the cameras, and say, “no problem. Here it is. I had to show it to play Pop Warner, too”.
well, hell has frozen over. I agree with the whitehouse. where am I going and why am I in this handbag?
I think Attaturk (sp?) was brilliant when he forsaw this problem in his own country and charged the military for overseeing that their legislature and elected officials were following the letter of the law. If they don’t (like those who keep trying to pass Sharia laws), then the military steps in, sends them all home, holds a new election, and then fade back into the background until such time they need to do it all over again... I’m not sure of the specifics, but this is such a mess frankly that I wish we had a process by which we could send them all home and start over...
Which part do you agree with? Granted Obama may be the impetus for this change, but the change is clearly needed and will apply to ALL candidates equally...
In several states the Nicaraguan Candidate for the Socialist Workers’ Party was on the ballot for President — clearly not qualified Constitutionally, but there he was on the ballot in some states regardless of that fact. This is a “loophole” that must be addressed especially since birth records were sealed to the public (a change from being Public Documents) in the early part of the 20th C. here in the US.
LOL — Saw a spoof of Obama’s state of the union address set to that music on YouTube. It cut his speech up and stated how many times he said, “I” and such.. Too funny!
Wouldn’t Obama be grandfathered in since he would be the incumbent?
I thought Oklahoma passed something similar? Anybody?
No, he has to be a candidate and this would apply to one and all.

Sort of off-topic here...
Something I’ve always wondered about the D.A.R. — my adoptive father’s family, as well as my adoptive mother’s mother’s family fought in the Revolutionary War, however does my status as an adoptee prevent my applying to join the organization? (Keep in mind I am not allowed to access my original birth record with the name of my biological parents on it, by law without petitioning the court — and most requests are soundly rejected depending upon stated “need”.)
I’ve always wondered if I would have been eligible for some of the scholarships and such, but having just found out about my adoption myself the same year I started applying to schools, I didn’t really want to deal with those questions at the time...
Also, do you know how this would affect my daughters’ ability to apply to join? Is it all “by blood” or do legal adoptions count as well? (My daughters are all my husband and I’s biological children).
make sure you keep me on your ping list for this. I am still working on a related project.
...I find it hard to believe that you have to physically show your birth certificate to prove where you were born. I think it's degrading to have to do such a thing. President Obama has more class than that....
I bet Soledad is an illegal. :)
Well, well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it, little Barry?
Usually, bastard, abandoned children will spend their entire lives trying to emulate certain characteristics of the abandoner - whether or not those characteristics were even authentic.
And so here we have this little phony, this abandoned little bastard who happens to be the president of the United States? You just couldn't make this stuff up.
Kudos to AZ. However, the White House and the MSM want this birther issue to be front and center. Better to have this issue in front of the public than the financial reform bill being discussed. The more it is discussed, the more that Americans will see what a sham the bill is and how it is a set of tools that can be used to take over banks and other portions of the private sector.
Not quite so - but this is amusing ...
Roger Calero ran for President as a Socialist Worker's Party candidate in 2008 - although he was born in Nicaragua in 1969. He actually made it on to the ballot in 5 states - and he was on the ballot in 2 others, but the Secretaries of States for those states found out about it and removed him.
