As commander of the Duluth Combined Honor Guard, I have received a number of complaints, belligerent rants and slanderous remarks from our community after the guard posted the colors at the Tea Party rally Thursday in Bayfront Festival Park. The guard posted the colors during the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag and during the National Anthem.
The responses Ive received have been intolerable and unfounded. People really need to inform themselves about the intentions of our honor/color guard before becoming irrationally reactionary.

Oh, there were plenty of cams going. The verbal abuse was directed, it seems, through the Honor Guard Commander via letter, email, voice mail, etc.
I have thought this over in my head many times and not ONCE can I EVER recall anybody bad mouthing ANY Honor Guard for posting and retiring the colors.
In my opinion, it takes a very special (real not in a good way) person to say bad things about a group of military people who take their own time to show respect for the flag and our fallen brothers and sisters in arms.
If this is what “Minnesota Nice” is, then, how do I get out of this Chicken-Sh*t outfit?
