AZ-Sen. 2010: Tea Party could hit its boiling point in Arizona primary (WaPo attacks J.D.) (BARF!)
The Washington Post ^ | 2010-04-20 | Michael Gerson

Posted on 04/19/2010 9:16:08 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

When Arizona's bitter Republican primary election arrives in August, it is likely to be 102 degrees in the shade, of which there is little. It is the kind of weather in which only the hearty and highly motivated venture outdoors -- Gila monsters and Tea Party activists. Which may not be good news for Sen. John McCain, who is generally disliked by the latter.

A recent poll puts McCain just five points ahead of J.D. Hayworth, a former congressman and radio talk show host who aspires to be Arizona's Samuel Adams. McCain operatives dispute that the race is this close, but they cannot dispute that McCain is running in a political environment in which absolutely anything could happen to an incumbent.

>>Gila monsters and Tea Party activists. Which may not be good news for Sen. John McCain, who is generally disliked by the latter. <<

That is an optimistic view. Gila Monsters also had to hold their nose to vote for him and despise him for being a RINO and wiping his butt with the 1st amendment and running the worst campaign since ever.

And I am pretty sure Gila Monsters don’t appreciate McCain’s support of amnesty for law-breakers who cross or borders and then demand services and recognition.

No way does McCain have the Gila Monster vote.

And let’s remember Gila Monsters, unlike our great leader, the fuhrer TOTUS-reader, are native born Americans.

Here’s a fellow-travelling Hayworth-hating comrade for the WaPo; it’s interesting how this clown masquerades as a “conservative” while he backs RINOs and attacks conservatives. Notice how he manages to inject an accusation of Nazism into his smear:

What Is There About “Unelectable” That We Don’t Understand?

Posted by: Michael Medved at 3:52 PM

The scandal-scarred background of former Congressman J.D. Hayworth makes him an unworthy primary challenger to Senator John McCain. His deep involvement in the Abramoff lobbying disaster, and six-figure payments to his wife more through a political action committee, led voters to scorn Hayworth in 2006 – despite a GOP registration edge of more than 60% in his solidly Republican district. Hayworth’s controversial book on immigration quoted approvingly from racial theories of Henry Ford during his pro-Nazi phase; the publisher reported sales of less than a thousand. On the key issue of spending, McCain has always been a deficit hawk and never sponsored an earmark; Hayworth was a notorious pork barrel spender. In the unlikely event that Hayworth won the primary he’d be unelectable in the fall—just as in his last Congressional race—handing a crucial Senate seat to Democrats.”

McCain’s Democrat backers are pulling out ALL the stops to try to save him. He is a Democrat.

They tried the BOGUS Daily Kos/Soros poll showing McCain leading.

McCain:
“....but but Mr. Soros - I have done everything you asked of me! I beat real Republicans to get the nomination in 2008 then took a dive so Obama could win...I am a team player...you have to save me from Hayworth!”

Dang, I hope McCain loses! When he won the GOP nomination for prez I had determined to write in John Galt and Hank Reardon on my presidential ballot. Then I ended up voting for Sarah Palin.

I agree with them. McCain is going to get clobbered in the primary. If the state run "media" claims McCain up by 5, then Hayworth is up by at least ten.

[McCain] has quickened national debates on torture, the environment, immigration... He now stands accused of sidling to the right during a Republican primary -- of which he is guilty...

...If the [Tea Party] movement embraces politicians such as Hayworth, it will not only prove itself extreme; it will prove itself gullible.

The author proves that McCain is a liberal who attempts to fool conservatives every six years, but The Tea Party movement is gullible for choosing Hayworth?

The WP's hate is all the bona fides Hayworth needs.

Dork. 112 is much more likely.

I would be thrilled to see McKook go. But I do worry what he will do if he is defeated in the primary. Specifically will he throw a tantrum like he did when he lost to Bush in 2000 by moving to the left (thereby voting for every lefty bill he can before the end of the year, such as shamnesty and cap and tax).

Gerson is a former speech writer for Bush 43. The RINO establishment sticks together.

BS. If McCain wins, the GOP deserves to lose. We need to throw this RINO bastard out. He is pro-amnesty, pro cap and trade, against drilling ANWR, was one of two Rep senators who voted against the Bush tax cuts, wants to shut down Gitmo, was part of the gang of 14 and is against political free speech. He ran a dismal campaign against Obama.

If McCain is elected, he will revert back to being the maverick, i.e, work with the Dems against conservatives. His butt boy, Lindsey Graham, is working on cap and trade and amnesty until McCain returns to his old ways. We can’t take another 6 years of this bastard.
