Since the liberal media have raised the question of political incivility and potential violence, one would expect them to be deeply interested in what might well be a politically-motivated beating. Except, of course, the victim is a Republican -- Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's chief campaign fundraiser, Allee Bautsch, and her boyfriend, Joe Brown, who were leaving a GOP fundraising event. Earlier in the day, protests against the Southern Republican Leadership Conference were held in New Orleans
NewsRealBlog reports:
It is widely speculated that the attack was politically motivated. Earlier on the day of the fundraiser, there was a large protest against the South Republican Leadership Conference happening that weekend, although the demonstration (which involved some violent undertones against Republicans - here is a picture of a poster from one of the primary organizers which depicts a dead, skeletal elephant, for instance) apparently disbanded some time before the attack took place. There were initially reports that Bautsch claimed assailants said, "Let's get them, they have Palin pins on." However, Human Events has confirmed with Jindal's office that the pair were not wearing Palin pins. Hayride of Louisiana has been covering the story extensively.
We don't yet know if the attacks were, in fact, politically motivated. We really should reserve judgement until all the facts are in (to set a good example for the liberal press, you know.) All we can say is the circumstances are highly suspicious and the event, tragic.
If you're interested, here is lots of video of the protest ....
Much more on the Louisiana political blog, The Hayride, inluding information on organizers of the anti-GOP protests, and this fascinating description of a suspect from the NOPD (via the Times Picayune):
New Orleans police say that the incident began about 11:45 p.m. when a group of three to five men made "derogatory comments" to Bautsch and her boyfriend. When the man described as the male victim "turned toward" the group of men, at least one of the men struck him repeatedly. The woman "fell to the ground and screamed," the news release said.
Police released a description of one suspect, saying he was in his 20s, looked "dirty," and wore his hair in an auburn-colored ponytail. The man was 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a thin build, police said. He wore a light-colored T-shirt and dark pants.
Officers in the area responded and requested EMS assistance. The woman used her purse as a pillow while waiting for help. Once she was in the ambulance, the woman realized her purse was missing, the release said.
She had her purse after the attack, so that's not a mugging.
Strange I don't remember the media reporting on the violent angry protests at the SRLC.
The state controlled media are the enemy just as much as the federal govt. They will report nothing detrimental to their side.
Silence from the msm. All I hear are crickets.
The genetically deficient over at MSNBC will claim it was a Tea Party false flag operation....
LLS
Has this been on the MSM at all? It’s almost a week after it happened!
Of course not, they’ve been busy with the Palin flexible straw story.
Good point.
i haven’t even heard it on fox...anyone else...??
If the Republican Gov wanted to make this an issue, he could.
Any Democrat would, which is why they win.
You are exactly right. Also it isn’t like fox news can’t report on violent leftist protests.
So far I have seen nothing inconsistent with the perps here being the apolitical type of nasty. IMO it is more likely than not that the attack was politically motivated, but there is at least a fair chance that it was just the same violent goons who attack Democrats at their national conventions.
One of my prone-to-see-conspiracies-everywhere friends keeps telling me that the victims here were trailed from the event by the perps, but none of the stories he has sent have said one word about that. Maybe someone here can provide me with a link to a real news story, as opposed to a rumor, about the victims being followed.
The news stories I have seen say that the perps yelled insults at the victims until the male victim responded. What those insults were might be evidence of a political angle or that there wasn't one. Insults about the female victim would be evidence that it wasn't political. Political insults would be evidence that it was political. One thing the apolitical nutballs have learned is that it is helpful, when arrested, if the vitims had challenged the perps in any way, so they do try to verbally provoke their intented targets.
That the perps targeted the male victim, who was the most injured, indicates the absence of a political motive.
What would be, IMO, the best evidence of a political motive would be if the female victim was intentionally stomped, particularly if her leg was broken that way. The apolitical nutballs target males, not females, and rarely attack females on the ground. They do stomp downed male vicitms.
Here one report I've seen said the female victim screamed as she was going down, which tends to indicate her leg was broken at that point. While it is more likely that her leg was broken from being stomped while on the ground, it is possible that her own momentum from being knocked down at a bad angle broke her leg (it happens in football and sometimes in soccer). That the story mentions her screaming while going down, but not afterwards, indicates a significantly painful injury at that point.
Most of what I've seen on this has been speculation. If anyone has real information, I'd like to see it, and please post links to it too.
You may have seen this already, but if not here it is.

An e-mail blast to local residents sent out by the 8th District police station, located just a few blocks from the incident on Royal Street, said the woman broke her leg after she "attempted to break up the altercation."
I still think it was political, but this post on the Hayride blog indicates that the perps are most likely communist remnants, and not Democratic or ACORN/SEIU type thugs.

It is possible that the perps were apolitical thugs who go around the country looking for political stuff as a chance to beat people up, but there are lefties who do that too, and they tend to associate with groups like the ones the Hayride blog fingers. Both types are basically cowards who will make themselves scarce once some armed victims hand out 9mm Darwin Awards.

Note — SEIU Thug types and ‘communist remnants’ are not mutually exclusive sets.
White government employees in New Orleans? GMAFB. The perps weren’t local.
