I am preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. (knowing the best rarely ever happens)

...Expecting the demise of civilization?...

Expect the best but prepare for the worst.

If I asked you 10 years ago that in a decade we would have Marxists running the country and industries would be nationalized...would you have believed it?

Investments into the proper supplies that have a shelf life of 20-30 years at these prices is a reasonable thing to do...especially if you extrapolate out 20-30 years.

Think about it, you don't have to buy a lot but you should have supplies because sooner or later this train is going to wreck and it isn't the eventual outcome of that train-wreck it is the initial 4-6 weeks that you have to survive.

If everything turns out rosy then you can have a freeze dried dinner buffet and have a good laugh over it.

Given the track record of both parties in this country we will be lucky if everything doesn't come up daises.
