Is this a color revolution? Or is this something else?

From what I can gather, this is a counter-colour revolution, or in others words anti-west political groups.

Irregardless, I think that Russia will allow the base to stay, because we paid Russia for it.

The dictator in Kyrgyzstan probably refused to go along with an order from Moscow that we do not know about. He will be meeting mr. FSB soon enough.

Opposition leaders in Kyrgyzstan say they have formed a new acting government in the country, after a day of deadly clashes between police and anti-government protesters.

Opposition party members made the announcement on a state television channel on Wednesday, shortly after protesters stormed and seized the channel in the capital, Bishkek.

RIA, a Russian news agency, cited the opposition as saying that the government had resigned and Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the president, had left the capital.

An airport official later said Bakiyev had flown out of Bishkek, the AFP news agency reported.

It was not immediately possible to verify the claims.

Al Jazeera’s Robin Forestier-Walker, reporting from Bishkek, said opposition members had commandeered one of the main government television stations earlier in the day.

This is an account from someone I know in Bishkek:
“Over the past several months, the government has doubled, tripled and even quadrupled the prices of utilities (gas, heat, electricity, and water), and become increasingly controlling of the media. People have begun to protest all over the country, and to take control of the centers of government in each region”.

Opposition leaders are saying 100 people have been killed and Health Ministry says 180 have been wounded. An eyewitness report says the President has left the country.
