I and the fam went to D.C. on 9/12 and I’ll never forget it. It was so great on so many levels.

THANK YOU for the report, IowaMom. Glad to see there’s still hope for my old hometown. The DUmmy presence was just icing on the cake. (”Classy”? I’m sure it was, until she showed up!)

{ping} (Sorry about the large images, my dial-up FRiend.)

Some reports had up to about 1000 there. Musical entertainment included Lloyd Marcus, Diana Nagy, Rivoli Revue and Polatik. Non-musical speakers included Mark Williams, Amy Kremer, Debbie Lee, Andrea Shea King and Dustin Stockton, plus a few more who's names I didn't catch. All were excellent and those attending were enthusiastic, and judging by their signs very creative! The woman with the DU sign was truly clueless, but local TV kept glued to her during her walkthrough.

In addition to being scenic the site has historical importance for freedom. Back in 1833 a man took what legally should have been his first free steps on the free Illinois island backdropping this crowd. Over the next year he was sent to homestead a claim in the free territory that would become Bettendorf, IA, probably just a few modern blocks from where we assembled. A plaque commemorates him in Davenport. The poor man didn't realize this freed him at the time, but started suing to legally recognize it in 1846. In 1857 the Federal government denied his freedom in the most maligned Supreme Court decision of all time, Dredd Scott.

More local press coverage here and here (made the front page!) and additional press pictures here. Coverage was surprisingly positive, maybe their liberal editors were taking a long "Spring Holiday" vacation. The Tea Party folks had all sign raffle tickets to get a count on the crowd, although I haven't seen the results anywhere yet. Their blog's last post was the 5th so hopefully something will go up soon. They requested name, zip code and email addresses on the tickets. They awarded a few CDs and books to those drawn, one of whom had listed her name as "Anonymous!"

Thanks for posting the link. It was a pretty good article and video clip. From the QC Times even - what a shocker.

Unfortunately I started reading the comments, which was kind of a bummer. The leftist vitriol from some of those people were disgusting. Not unexpected though. They call names, lie and distort. That’s all they can do.

Thanks newgeezer. Yes, there is always hope. There are a lot of good people in the Quad Cities. Hopefully more will come to their senses. The crowd size certainly was encouraging.

John, thanks for filling in the details on the speakers and entertainers. I couldn’t remember all their names, just that they were all GOOD!

Bettendorf and Davenport have historical significance in several areas. Thanks for the reminder of the Dredd Scott connection.

I’ll go take a look at the additional links you posted. Just got home from work.

So that’s what the DUmp people look like. I always wondered what such foul-mouthed ignoramouses look like. Obviously, they look as evil as they sound, judging from their representative in that picture.

Reminds me of a character that was on Saturday Night Live : Pat. You could not tell if Pat was a man or a woman. I suppose she/he still believes the Lamestream slander rather than her/his own lying eyes.
