WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is delaying release of the annual report on the financial health of Social Security and Medicare so that the new report can reflect the impact of the recently passed health care overhaul.

An administration official told The Associated Press that this year's trustees report will be delayed until June 30, three months later than it usually comes out.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity before the formal announcement, said that the delay will allow the government to determine the impact of the massive overhaul of health care that President Barack Obama just signed into law.

In January, Richard Fisher, the chief actuary for Medicare, estimated that the Senate bill which passed on Christmas eve would extend the life of the Medicare hospital trust fund by 10 years. The legislation that finally passed Congress was the Senate bill but with revisions approved to win House support.

Red flags (appropriate!) should be coming up on this one. I’m sure somehow the reports on SS and Medicaid will look just peachy when The Regime gets done with it.

The Obama regime cooks everything ... The actuary already said SS was insolvent as of this quarter.

Just wait until the tax receipts report ...

In ObamaLand, “transparency” = “hide the numbers”.

Translation: Social Security is broke. The government IOUs in its possession aren't worth the paper they're printed on. And Obama is directing the Social Security Administration to cook the books.

I have always said that I would never receive any Social Security benefits. Won't be long before it's official.

Here is the 2009 report: For the third consecutive year, a "Medicare funding warning" is being triggered, signaling that non-dedicated sources of revenues—primarily general revenues—will soon account for more than 45 percent of Medicare's outlays. A Presidential proposal will be needed in response to the latest warning.

If they want to see “civil disobedience”, let them tell 60 million (or whatever the number) seniors they won’t be getting SS.

Is this the famous transparency of the Barama admin? Wow, lucky for The People he doesn't conduct the country's business clandestinely or anonymously.

Burying it just like they are burying the report on whether the Chinese are manupulating their currency. The only thing you can see with the "most transparent administration in history" is the stone wall.

I want to see the report NOW, and a second report in 3 months showing how much worse it is with Obamacare.

Umm. Wouldn't any executive with half a brain and the best interests of his organization (i.e. USA) at heart have waited for a determination of the health care overhaul's impact BEFORE signing it into law?
