Felt it real good in Coronado! I’m still shaking! I’m a Colorado boy and I’m not used to these!
The wife called me — she described it as a strong rolling motion. She is in the SF Valley (sadly, I am again in Richmond, VA — I couldn’t feel it here). That is 200+ miles from the epicenter!
Last report was 20 miles deep — pretty shallow all in all. All looks OK and local coverage has gone back to normal programming.
My parents and sister felt it, in Playa Vista; and they all agreed that it was the longest rolling quake they had ever felt (having been through the 1971 and 1994 quakes in Southern California). (I’m now living in Southeast Florida and we don’t have earthquakes here. Yet.)
I wonder with how bad building codes are south of the border, how much damage there will be there.
A good 45-60 seconds of rolling and swaying here in the San Fernando Valley. I think the magnitude will be reassessed upward - I felt a LOT of movement for being 150+ miles away.
My neighbors felt it here in the L.A. area, but I was outside walking on the sidewalk by the road and didn’t feel it.
I felt NOTHING in The OC!
Dogs weren’t weird.
Pool didn’t slosh. Nothin’ nil nada.
MY kind of quake! Hope everyone’s safe!!!
This event is interesting. There have been a series of quakes on that stretch of the San Andreas over the last few days with the epicenters creeping further south over time. And thus far, there haven’t been any aftershocks. A quake of this size should have produced dozens by now.
Nice long mild roll here in the high desert.
Definitely felt it here in Palm Springs. No damage, but sure lasted longer than other quakes.
Any Yuma FReepers? It looks like it probably rocked their world.

We felt it in north Phoenix for a good 30 seconds. Blinds were swaying, couch was moving, etc.
My kids felt the shaking, and we live in Chandler, Arizona
Just called family in anaheim, just sitting down to dinner & they were a rollin’, they just heard there was almsot a 5.0 in Sacramento, going to check
Hope everyone is ok out there on the other coast,
“I’ve never felt an earthquake,
and I never hope to feel one,
But I can tell you anyhow,
I’d rather see one, than be IN one!”
Just felt another one here in El Cajon.
I felt it it was long rolling shake here in SO CAL
Damn, didn’t feel a thing in Connecticut...
